M3 Max Macbook Pro: Not Worth Upgrading

Buying a used M1 Max computer is a great option as well. I’m seeing pretty huge discounts. You can get a M1 Max 16” MacBook Pro with 64GB RAM/4TB SSD for $3, 000. Apple sells the same model refurbished for $3, 600+, and it probably went for around $4, 500+ new. I don’t need an M2 or an M3.

You just saved me some money. I had an M3 Max in my cart and this video popped up in my recommended. I’m going to keep my M1 Pro. My worst case use is similar to your examples.

The M3 speed increases on all the software you mentioned won’t show right away just like the M1. You friends at Adobe needs to update their software to catch up completely. So while everybody is saying you’re keeping it real… ya not really cause it will get faster. Also this upgrade is for the stragglers still on Intel and those of us with budgets or leases. Apple doesn’t expect normal usage people to swap two year old computers.

6 months ago I found a brand new sealed in the box M1 Max 16 inch macbook pro. 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD. I bought it for 1900$ and its amazing. Linux VMs run butter smooth. The fans rarely even come on except zoom mtgs. I was blown away

This video is six months old, but I can't find a follow up with how Patrick got on. Did the idea die before it started? Is Patrick's content on a different channel? I loved the series of videos Lee has done on his Macbook, and they are probably what decided me to try a Mac. I'd already come to the conclusion that an MBP would be 30% lighter with double the battery life of the MS Surface Studio I was looking at. My M2 Pro with 1Tb drive might be here tomorrow, and I can't wait. Strangely, it is learning the new OS that I am most looking forward to.
