:(

Showing your mistakes actually made the video better, IMO.

:( I got a huge smile on my face when I saw your joy once the computer booted with the 1030. I recently had a build similar to that where I was sticking to a VERY tight budget and had problem after problem. Unlike you, I gave up and ended buying a new Ryzen, MB, and RAM. I enjoy videos like this. I love doing video work for others, but am too much of an introvert to try making my own videos. Keep up the good work.

Moral of the story: don’t use crippled vendor specific motherboards.

“This computer only costs $80, 64 hours of trouble shooting, 41 hours of deal hunting, and 4.6 hours of driving around to pick up components and a completion time of 3 months. But it only cost $80. Manufacturers don’t want you to know this secret!”

Snakebite MaGee here; this video is so epic for so many reasons. Your commitment to your content is just one of those things. You are amazing and talented my dude

I'm an old man of 60 yrs and I'm a non-techie, but I went ahead and did a minor upgrade to my Inspiron 530 with a Wolfdale Socket and it was something trying to get the *RIGHT* info for the CPU itself (as a non-techie), but I got it to a satisfying point. I like the smooth way you edit your videos also.

Yes Lenovo's whitelisting of hardware is a pain the rear. I cannot understand how this is still legal in this day and age.

Totally with you on the salvage, recycle, reuse, upgrade track. Thanks for encouraging others to do the same!

I've done similar builds in the past but nothing to the degree you are here...I've taken used Dell desktops and workstations with working RAM, CPU and storage, wiped the hard drives, put in graphics cards, and used them for gaming, or given them to friends or relatives as gifts. I love that you made such an effort to keep the build within your target budget, and TBH I've been in a position before where a budget salvage build like this was my only option. I also love that you keep the language G-rated so I can watch these with my kids. Keep up the good work brother!

This was basically how i built all my gaming pc's when i was younger. 10yrs ago when i was oems made upgrading horrible but i never ran into such ridiculous gpu compatibility issues.

lenovo is known for aggressively implementing whitelist stuff for hardware, i would strongly avoid thinkcentres etc. Dell for prebuilt desktop modding is the best, but you probably found that out already:(
