How To Make a Simple One Piece Silicone Mold - Pour On

This instructional mold making tutorial video shows how easy it is to make a one piece silicone block mold using Smooth-On Mold Star 15. The finished mold can be used for casting resin, wax, foam, and many other materials.

Use hot glue to secure the model. Glue the mold box to the base. Dispense equal amounts 1A:1B by volume. Dispense Parts A & B into mixing container. Mix Parts A & B as directed. Slowly pour into one corner of the mold box. Pour 1/2 inch (1.25cm) over model's high point. Allow Mold Star 15 to cure. Carefully remove the mold box. Slowly peel back the cured rubber. Mold Star 15 reflects perfect detail.

Mold Star® 15 is an easy to use Shore 15A platinum silicone that is mixed 1A:1B by volume (no weighing scale necessary). It features a relatively low viscosity and vacuum degassing is not required for most applications. Pot life is an extra-long 65 minutes.

Mold Star® 15 cures overnight to a soft, strong rubber that is tear resistant and exhibits very low long term shrinkage.

Any clean container can be used for mixing and pouring. We recommend disposable containers.

Can you explain a bit further? What were you bonding the mixing cup to using the hot glue?

No, So-Strong is for urethanes only. Use Silc-Pig pigments with silicone.

@scopeeyevideo This product is higher strength than OOMOO but is more sensitive to inhibition from latex and sulfur. The finished mold also has a longer library life.

We do have silicone rubbers with food ratings but Mold Star 15 is not one of them. You might want to look into our Smooth-Sil 940 or our SORTA-Clear series.

Yes, Smooth-Cast 320 can be used in a Mold Star 15 mold.

I made a mold using Mold Star silicone of my kids troop emblem and made 69 repros of the emblem for our whole troop den using their SC 300 resin which works great in this rubber - and the mold strill looks great - no changes!

Hello! I would recommend making a flat mold of the shape out of Smooth Cast 300 resin, then pouring in some Skin Tite - which remains tacky even after it's cured.

Hi what silicone composition would you recomend if I was trying to make silicone gel body sticker... For example a shape of a star i woul mould then line one side of the silicone with a thin film of polyutharne for added strenth, but have the silicone retaine an adhesive like proprty on the other side thats washable hope you can help thanks
