The Leonid meteor shower is one of the ten biggest meteor showers of the year, Naturally lighting up the mid-November night sky. Leonid meteor shower has been historically repeated every 33 years. Historically, it has been a scary event for people as it can turn the night sky so bright that people did not have any explanations. Do you know what causes it? I got to see the super burst during the Perseids in 1986. It scared me to death lol. I was a teenager and I had gone down to the lake to sneak a cigarette where my parents couldn’t see me: we were camping at Fall Creek Falls in Tennessee. We didn’t have internet back then and people weren’t aware of meteor showers like they are now. My dad went to the hotel nearby to see if they knew what was happening and the 11pm news was on. The weather lady was talking about it. After I knew what it was I was able to enjoy it. It literally looked like it was raining stars.

Leonids can cause amazing shows.. Blazing fireballs fell through the skies certain years.
1966 was big, I heard first hand accounts..
1993 was a superb year for them, caught photos of 'smoke' still in the sky from a few exploding meteors.
