I'm really struggling to see how any of these ideas would work. Yes, every action has an equal and opposite reaction, but these (theoretical) ideas don't appear to have taken into consideration angular momentum, spin and vectors. Everything down to the smallest atom and molecule is subject to that fact. Not to mention kinetic and potential energy. To nudge and incoming comet/meteor that isn't going to hit us may put it on a future path that will cause an E.L.E. Unless these theoretical scientists can safely say with absolute certainty, not predict, that any nudging of "potentially" dangerous comets/meteors will put them safely away from us and on an orbit that does not put us on a future collision course with one, then I say they should leave well alone.
