Living on a TINY 28ft Salvaged Sailboat for 2 Years + BOAT TOUR

Показать описание
In this video we meet Maya and Aladino, a couple of sailors who are living full-time on their tiny 28-foot sailboat. They travel slowly with minimal belongings, and they keep their expenses low by doing most boat repairs themselves, and by living as cheaply as possible.

Sailing Magic Carpet is a 1979 Vindø 32 that was lovingly restored by Aladino, who is a certified boatbuilder. Their home-on-water can carry 100 litres of freshwater, it has a small fridge and stove, a 130-watt solar panel, and a 3-cylinder 20hp Yanmar engine.

Maya and Aladino are passionate live-aboard sailors who both learned how to sail and restored their own boats separately before meeting in Europe, falling in love, and moving onto Magic Carpet together.

A huge thank you to Maya & Aladino for working on this collaboration with us! We really appreciate all the work you put into filming and sharing your footage with us :)

Thanks for watching!

Probably one of the most sincere and reasonable explanations behind the "boat lifestyle."

Back in 1970 I was a US Marine stationed at the naval academy in Annapolis Maryland. I Acquired a 27’ Morgan sloop. Basically a day sail with a small cabin. The head was under the companionway steps. Same alcohol stove as you, but only a ice box. It had a 15 horse external saildrive. I spent many a weekend out on the Chesapeake Bay practicing my celestial navigation. There were no GPS back then. Still miss the water at 70 years old and bad health.

Lived like this on an even smaller boat. Alone for almost 15 years. Same engine, no icebox, and wood stove. Kerosene lamps for light. Westly Farmer Cherub, bought it sunk, rebuilt it myself.

Been watching this couple’s channel for several months now. Definitely worth following. Awesome lifestyle and they don’t sugarcoat it. They show the good the bad the ugly.

The thought of living free and not being tied down to one spot is really appealing, what a great way to explore not only countries and other oceans and seas but also to experience LIFE with it's ups and downs, just think of the great memories that you can get out of this.

Sailing is not a piece of cake! I like the fact they put emphasis on what you have to face when you take the decision to live on a boat. Not only you need to be organized but also having a strong knowledge on ways to fixe everything! Great lesson!

Though I'm not into boats or sailing, I'm into travelling and alternative lifestyle. I've spent around 4 years travelling the world non stop and I can totally relate to everything you say. Congratulations and keep doing whatever makes you happy.

You guys are awesome, and she came out beautiful!! I restored my 24ft cuddy cabin cruiser, when I was 22 years old. I'm now 48, and she's still my baby. With all new add-ons, electronics, as technology grows, always new things to purchase. My dad helped me, and taught me everything on his 32ft Boston whaler. We put a brand new head, and installed or replaced a very small shower. Although my boat is a pleasure boat, I just love sailboats. My father in law builds sailboats, in the U.S. As long as it's your's you made her your own, I love my small vessel, respectful of every ocean. And everything and more is in that vessel, if anything were to happen. Which so many people overlook. Stay safe, look forward to your adventures. 🙏 🌊 ⛵

"We want to sail around the world as slowly as possible..." YES! Someone put my dreams into words. No rush. If there was ever any truth to "Enjoy the journey" this is it. I am so envious. <3

As a fellow Canadian, and closet sailor, I just want to say you guys made me cry with this video. I hope everyone is happy for you as I am. You are an inspiration. I wish you the best luck and all the blessings that the heavens can provide in your journey through life.

Thank you. One of the few sincerely authentic sailing blogs on-line. I am so tired of the exploitation of nudity or near-nudity to encourage subscribers. You two seem entirely at peace. May the winds be always at your back.

My grandparents retired early in 1982 and sold everything and bought a 42 ft sailboat named Robin. They lived on that boat and traveled the world on it until 2006 when we basically had to pull them off because the medically/ physically couldn’t do it anymore. I had the most amazing adventures with them visiting them in all different corners of the world for weeks at a time during my summer vacations. I feel so lucky and so happy for them

This boat was very expensive when new and very high quality. He picked the right boat to repair for sure.

Wow. What a great story. The world is in good hands with young people like this. The message of not getting into debt by letting go of the old ideas of having the most, biggest, and greenest lawn on the block is hopefully over. They are showing us, along with what's happening in the world, right now, that we can do with much less. Thanks for bringing this story to us.

What a lovely young lady. You express yourself so clearly, and I appreciate the total lack of pretension and plain speaking. You are both a wonderful antidote to the mega yacht brigade. You have a great vessel and your attitude and approach is intelligent and inspired. Great channel.

I love their story! I am incredibly impressed by their ability to make this happen. Boats deal with a lot of damage from salt water, so the repairs must be endless! I am intrigued by this and thank you for sharing their story.
