‘being a sailor means being a diesel mechanic, a canvas repairer, a navigator and a philosopher all at the same time.’ Nailed it beautiful soul. Bravo.

Being a retired navy officer, the Sea is a second nature for me. Sailing as a family has been my dream. For the last six years I have been trying to convince my wife to quit our jobs and take our three kids on a once in a lifetime voyage through the Mediterranean, the French canals, and to the Pacific. Six months ago, she said yes, and we are currently buying our boat to start in Greece in a couple of months.

I might have to thank you both, but specially to you, Maya, for helping me inspiring her. That is the power of what you do.

Thank you.

You know, Maya, what sets your channel apart from all the others is the storytelling. It's just so personal. Absolutely lovely.

You must produce audio book, I am am absolutely sure it would be a success. My daughter suffers from anxiety and when it gets really bad one of the things that she finds very helpful is to put her headphones on turn off her light and listens to your voice, and after about half a hour her anxiety melts away.. you have a very special gift and I thank you for helping my daughter

I wanna do this so bad. I'm 36, was in the Navy and Army for 13 years, got out and came home and didn't feel like I fit in anymore. Not into politics, not into war and arguing, I just wanna live my life, see the world and make friends. I really desperately wanna do this. I make 1800 a month from a pension. I have 3 farms smallest being 150, im thinking about selling it to buy a boat, and giving my sister the other two farms for her kids because I don't have any and getting a boat and leaving Kentucky and just going back out on the ocean. I loved it in the navy, waking up and seeing the sun come up, the smell of the ocean, the stars at night that are endless across the sky.

Fantastic content and edit but most of all you truly understand and convey the true essence of what sailing has to offer.
After 52 years as a professional sailor and captain I am so impressed with your understanding at a young age of what sailing can bring to your soul.
Your Grandmother was so right, we all have more time than money. Money comes and goes, but are alotted time here always diminishes. H
ow we choose to use this precious commodity is ultimately up to us.
Well done and thank you for your hard work on this post.

Wonderful honesty! I remember what my 96 year old grandfather said when I asked him to tell about his life, he said 'find love, find freedom, do what is in your heart, don't worry if it fails you have experienced it, but hold tightly to your dreams and goals' Seems like you are both taking grandpa's advice :-)

How is it that your storytelling is so mesmerizing? It's soothing, authentic, rhythmic, peaceful. I've haven't heard or seen anything like this. The thought that you are now able to make this your living as well as your dream and your purpose is beautiful. Congratulations on your growth, your courage and what's yet to come. Thank you for inspiring me and inspiring connection through images, words, music and soul.

I am in my 70's now and I have had a wonderful life, however I do regret not taking the time for long vacations and seeing the world. You must also prepare for your old age and see to the needs of each other.

Oh Maya, you brought a tear to my eye with this one. Apart from being a timid sailor I think we live in a similar world. At 58 I have always taken the daftest route but it has somehow been the right one. I think you will be doing that too

At 28 feet, your possessions no longer own you. My dad years ago said "You can't make a living playing video games, " but now you can. Anyone who says "You can't make a living as a sailor" similarly doesn't know what they're talking about. The violin lamp fixture is a brilliant re-purpose of a broken item.

As I prepare to spend time on a 32’ I seem to always be asking myself will my boat be big enough? Your story reminds me to embrace what I have and make the best of it! Thank you for your wisdom and taking us along with you on your journey.
