A 13-year-old boy was behind the wheel of the Dodge truck that hit a bus, causing a fiery collision in West Texas that killed nine people, including six students and a coach at the University of the Southwest in New Mexico, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.

The boy, who also died in the crash, was driving on a spare tire that failed and caused the vehicle to pull hard to the left, crossing into the oncoming lane, NewsNation local affiliate KMID reported.

what was the blood alcohol of the 38 year old? That would probably answer why a 13 year old was driving. Happens more than you think.

Never trust a spare tire especially when in the front. Also spare doughnut tires are only rated for 45-50 mph folks. They are not supposed to be driven on for many miles. I've driven with doughnut tires lots of times on different vehicles I owned. They are not reliable, they are only for temporary use.

It is important to know that doughnut spare tires are not designed for long term use or for driving at highway speeds. They are only designed to get you to a service station after a flat.

There's no excuse. If the 13 year old was man enough to drive a truck and kill innocent people, then he was man enough to have his name listed. The adults responsible for him should have to pay for this crime dearly, and not just financially. Parents and guardians should be held just as responsible as their kid when their kid hurts or kills someone. If you choose to bump butts and reproduce or take ownership of a child, you should be responsible for what comes of it until it's grown or you report to authorities that you can't control it.
