I have renamed “self care” as “I am taking care of my ____.” The blank can be filled in with my body, emotions, spirit, mind…. Knowing the specific place I’m directing my care is helpful.

I'm amazed at the illustrations you find in ordinary life for our spiritual walk. That tree was dying on the inside, not getting nourished anymore. That just speaks to me so much. "I am the vine, you are the branches"

Truth. The tree fell because it was hollow. We are likely to “fall over” when we’re “hollow” too. We get filled up not by getting our nails done or buying stuff whatever treats but by connecting with God and other humans.
A good word.

This is so true. I had shoulder surgery in May and still recovering. I am looking at knee surgery because of 27 years of standing on concrete teaching school. I can't drive yet and my sweet husband has to help me with everything. Then July 1st my mom fell abd broke her hip and is in hospital. And another close family member has cancer. It is very overwhelming but I know the Lord has this. I do desire prayers! Thank you for your encouragement andfor your channel!

Giving to others… through the love of Christ… not guilt or a negative emotion … is the way I 💯 fill my cup.

Diana...as an introvert i love being by myself the most because all of the extroverts out there are exhausting.
Yet....being around an extrovert when I do have energy can make for a fun event.

It was used as a metaphor for women being on empty as the tree was hollow inside. 😘

I agree. Self care is about a good cup of joe with a friend.

I think we simply need to learn to be comfortable with saying "no" at times, and it doesn't matter what religious beliefs you hold. IMO, we unintentionally make more work and stress for ourselves, while trying to appear as a super woman or as an effort to please everyone else. It may make you feel temporarily good about yourself, but it doesn't hold in the long run. I'm 70 years old and came to terms with that I simply cannot be responsible for everyone else, or fix everything around me. The more I did for people, the more they expected of me. You cannot win in such an arrangement, as the life will eventually be sucked right out of you, just like the insects likely did to the tree that fell down.

By the middle of it she wasn't talking about trees anymore, was she?

Tire of women who never think that men could
be just as "concerned/caring" for our families!
Why do you think a man goes to work daily, to
endure the abuse and criticism of his boss and
fellow employees....ITS CUZ HE LOVES HIS FAMILY!

Please look at your Forehead you seem to have a like flat spot above but between your eyebrows. Like an indentation.
Yes, self-care is so important. If you don't do self-care your body will floor slam you.

I'm sorry but did you just try to create a metaphor about a falling tree probably due to carpenter ants and then ppl failing learn your own boundaries and emotional intelligence and your needs.... Thats crazy
