If your Toyota Prius won’t start when you push the start button, but some of the dashboard lights come on and it makes some sounds, but not all of the lights come on, then you have a weak battery. The Toyota Prius won’t start if its 12 V battery is low on voltage. The Prius has two batteries, a 12 V regular car battery, and a hybrid battery. When the 12 V car battery starts getting old, sometimes your Prius won’t start when you push the start button, but parts of the dashboard light up and some parts don’t. if you turn on the cabin lights and noticed that they are dim, then you definitely have a low battery. And that is why your Toyota Prius won’t start. How to fix a Toyota Prius that won’t start because of a low battery, you need to charge up the battery, replace the battery, or jumpstart the car. In this video I show you how to jumpstart a Toyota Prius if the battery is low. I also show you where the 12 V battery is located in the back of the car. I hope this helps you fix your Toyota Prius if it won’t start, but it does turn on and make some noises.

I had no lights or animal sounds, but jumping it was the answer. Thanks so much!

I would only add connecting the cables in the proper order.
+ good car to
+bad car
- good car to
- ground of bad car.
In that order.... learn it, live it, love it.
positive to positive negative to ground.

Watched your vid measuring your Prius V, and then this one . My 2014 V has 140 something K on it now, too. I bought it 2 years ago for 8K .... and it's worth more than that now.

With covid I didn't get to really travel in it, though I got a nice 3-fold mattress that fit's perfectly. At 6'3- 200 lbs I don't think I'll mind it taking over the whole back. It folds up, and I probably will have to move a few things back and forth from the front to back seats. but I'm still looking forward to trying it out.

What's also cool is that, for people maybe thinking about a Prius V wagon, is that the front seats sans the headrest folds flat into the bottom of the all the way back backseats, which recline... so you have leisure chairs.

It took me a while to figure out that the big black screwhead bolt in the back compartment screws into the little squares in the front bumper as tow points to hook a line to.

Thanks for this video; I didn't know the no start was pretty much the small battery. Thea only annoying thing mine does is that what was once or twice a year having to stop the car and restart it to get the cruise control to come on is happening like every few months. I'll have to go on Prius Chat and see if there's anything about that there.

But 44.5 miles per gallon is an asset right now, and the 2016/17 with 100k or less that I'd like to trade up for are well over 20K now. That's silly.
Subbed the channel. Thanks!

My car is having the exact same issues… took it to Autozone where they “tested” my 12V battery and they said that that was fine… but we discovered that the negative cable was very loose so we tightened that, thinking that that was the problem… still doing the same thing now… only way I can get my car started is to hold down the brake pedal for 5 seconds so I can use the Hybrid battery to start the engine… so what would you say is the issue?? Was the guy at Autozone incorrect or was his reader???

Just for clarification, when you showed the battery in the front of the vehicle that was just extra information right? The problem is the 12v battery in the back, and that's what we need to jump?

Get a battery boosted jump cable connect the red cable to positive terminal and the black cable to a non painted metallic part of the car. My car was completely dead and it works after a couple of tries

Thanks to your video i got a dead Prius off our Ferry. He was of course standing first in the middle and blocked the whole boat😁 now I know how to connect the starter to Prius for the next time. We get those situations quite often onboard. Usually when I see some shady wreck coming onboard i ask them to kindly let the engine fucking going or else!

Can you just jump it from the 12V?

Mine is parked front ways in the garage and I don't have long enough cables to reach

Hey. I watch your video about Honda CR-V and the fuses. My phone charger/ cigarette lighter is dead. By any chance do you know what size fuse is for that function and where is it located?? I don’t have the little door you opened in the video. I got Honda CR-V 2013. Thanks

Just started my search, but my not starting problem is different. The warning lights on the dash all come on, and sometimes trying again a second time and it starts. Does a Prius have a starter like conventional cars? It doesn't seem to be a battery thing. Yesterday trying to start it the second time didn't work, so may be time for the shop. I'm wondering if the regular shop can fix it or if I have to take it to the dealer. This is a 2010 Prius with (believe it or not) just about 11, 000 miles on it.

That’s easy stuff now you tell me why a prius won’t start. It has fully charged 12 volts battery, I check fuel pump it tested good, It even runs on starting fluid. I cleaned and tested injectors, and I have an injector cleaner that pulse it and apply pressurized cleaning fluid to see if it sprays. I already cleaned MAF sensor and throttle body I even drained some of the engine oil because it is newly changed maybe whoever did it put a little too much and nothing helps. Last but not least I also charged the hybrid battery, I have all these equipment because I rebuild hybrid batteries
