Easy way to fix Toyota car windows that won't roll down
Показать описание
How to fix Toyota Corolla car windows that will not roll down. My driver's window would go up and down but all 3 of my other Toyota windows would not work, they would not go up or down. I guessed the motors were good as it was unlikely all 3 window motors would go bad at the same time. I checked the fuses and they were all good. I was getting ready to take the door apart so I could check the switches. I did some more research and found that on Toyota cars if you disconnect the car's battery this may disable your windows and you will need to reset them. This is done by operating your window switch at each door by pressing down for 5 seconds and then up for 5 seconds. I repeat, do it at the switch at each door, not at the main switch on the driver's door for each door. I did not have to have my engine on but I did have the key turned so the lights were on in the dashboard.
I tried it several times and it did not work at first. I may have been pushing on one of the rear switches in the wrong way, I think I was pushing it to go up first and should have been pushing it to go down first as the window was already closed.
The sequence I tried that seemed to work was the driver window first and then the rear driver-side window, then the rear passenger-side window, and then the front passenger-side window. All switches were activated at each individual door. I also tried pushing the window lock button very hard in the hope it may have been stuck.
Eventually, after the fifth time, I heard one of the window motors click. I repeated the sequence and the windows all operated correctly.
In the very beginning, I was turning the key off after activating the switch sequence and then turning the key back on before trying the windows. This did not work, so I ran the sequence and tried the windows without turning the key off and back on.
After all the windows became operational I added silicone spray to the side window tracks to help the windows move more smoothly. Both of the rear windows would not close 100%, a little bit stuck up but I am happy, the main thing is they now open and close.
I know I did maintenance on my battery a while back so I think either disconnecting the battery shut down my three windows or I just got lucky and the switches were bad and my repeated attempts at operating the window switches and maybe even the window lock button helped fix the problem.
I hope this helps you guys. I know it sounds like a joke but I was getting ready to take my car apart. Look up the Toyota window reset to find more information on the internet. It seems to be a common problem, I did not think it would occur in my car as it is very old- a 1994 Corolla.

This is the link to my Amazon store where you can see stuff I have bought and liked a lot over the years. You do not have to buy anything from the store, just by using my link to enter Amazon anything you buy on Amazon will help me out at no cost to you.
