Changing lanes when a lane ends:
When the lane you're in is coming to an end and you need to cross a broken line to get into another lane, you must give way to vehicles already in that lane - for example, when you're merging onto a highway. Slow down and look for a suitable gap to safely change lanes.
When a car D crosses a broken line to enter a different lane, it must give way to Car A already in that lane.

When driving on a road and the number of lanes or traffic lines decreases and there are no longer any road markings, you must check mirrors, signal for 3 seconds, perform a head check and give way to the vehicle ahead of you. This is known as a zipper merge.
