Hi Lost. I'm an italian following your channel from a while.
As an italian living close to Milano i have to say: in general you're right.

But keep in mind: italy, especially in the North is very packed up with people. You visited Cinque Terre April 24th which is the day before a very important national holiday, that's why it was so terribly crowded. Liguria is well known for this problem also in italian minds.

San vito lo Capo in July/August, as well as Positano would be as packed as cinque terre.

This is to say: Time to visit Italy is a variable more than any other countries in the world i've been to, if you wanna avoid crowds. Completeley forget July and August. Choose June/May/early September. And avoid mass tourism places in national holidays.

Italians like italy more than anyone else! You have to avoid US to have our amazing country all for yourself 😂

If you will come back to milano, feel free to write. I will try to give you a better experience of northern Italy 😊

The Dolomites is out of this world! It's super beautiful and also the Lago di Braies looks so amazing. They're like masterpieces of nature.

I went to Cinque Terre in February and had literally no crowds. It was magical.

I did 2 weeks in rome/naples/positano july 2023 and it was the most amazing time of my life. Positano to truly my most favorite place in the world - its beauty is undefinable. I dream of going back everyday

You asked… IMO I vehemently disagree that Milano is not the authentic Italy. Rather It is a just different part of Italy and a beautiful, and elegant part. Yes, it is not like the south or coast which is also a different part of Italy. Yes, it is a commercial center but it is a necessary part to ensure Italy thrives. For a change of pace just go an hour north to the mountains. Roma, Milano, Venice, Firenze, Padova, Brindisi, Portofino, Capri, Napoli, are all Italy just different and that is what makes the country so awesome!

Start adding some depth on Italy - scratching surfaces here, all your stops are typical American / Canadian tourist spots - if you reach depth like your coverage of the Philippines, then we might listen ! (put Sardegna in late August to your list)

I went to the Rome and the Amalfi Coast in summer 2021 when they were near empty. Truly once in a lifetime experience without tourists. Don’t think I want to pollute those memories by going back lol

Couldn’t have come out at a better time! I’m planning to travel from Venice all the way to southern Italy Matera, Amalfi coast etc in a 2 week trip at the middle of April! Thanks for the tips!

I plan to document the whole trip.

It is always the case that you should stay away from tourist places. The streets where the grandmothers make fresh pasta are more loving and authentic!

My wife and I honeymoon in Positano. It is beautiful and if you go to the right time of year, it’s not crowded and the weather is fantastic. We would go during September October or early April not crowded and the weather is fantastic. Chez Black restaurant is fantastic. But the ride along the cliffs is terrifying.

Alot of the points you made, I agree on. Roma and Firenze really have my heart.
