We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.

We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.

We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.

Travel Plug that works in pretty much any country & has four USB ports. A must for any traveler.

Rome is loaded with tourists. My advice is to go into every church you come across. They are amazingly beautiful. My dream is to go back someday and go on a church crawl.

I have to agree with everything you stated. My wife and I got lost and ended up stopping at this small restaurant trying to get back to our hotel and I had one of the best meals of my life, it was like 6 courses and the cost was a lot less than the other places we were looking at. It was amazing.

Love Italy, and I am going back this summer :), also one more point, if the menu has many items, walk.away. or better yet RUN, too many items on the menu means that is preheated (microwave) food, small menu, one language (Italian) and you will have authentic Italian cuisine, too many items +multiple languages = Crap!

Another don't: At restaurant, *don't order ketchup to put on pasta!!!* In Rome and in the rest of Italy it is considered as a heresy, a blasfemy! Anyway, I now that it's an exaggeration but, for an Italian like me, it's very unpleasant to hear :D

I was in Rome last week.
I booked a "skip the line" ticket for the colloseum.
We went into the "skip the line" line for the security check. Which was, about 90 minutes.
Next to us, was the normal, "buy tickets and then go trough security" line. Which was about 30 minutes.
So no, skip the line is absolutely not always a good thing. It surely wasn't for us, and everybody else in our line. Everybody was pretty pissed off.

Mark let me tell you another tip: gladiators in Rome are a big issue, they are not standing outside the monuments legally! They always try to steal money (they can ask you 80 euros for a picture!). by the way, your videos are great! keep going!

I went to Rome in Sept. Knowing the tips from this video was beneficial.. Most of these apply to every big tourist city. #4 for example. I had great food from local "off the track" places whereas others I know said food in Rome was bad.
Learning a little Italian was both fun and rewarding as I was able to order things without feeling like a rude tourist.

I agree about good walking shoes. You can walk far in Rome, so it helps to have good sneakers. I think the Italian people were great wherever we went. They were friendly and helpful if you needed something.

One thing I can say for any area with high pickpot rates in general, no matter if you wear shorts or pants or whatever, invest in the ones with the pockets that have ZIPPERS. It can seem tedious to repeatedly zip and unzip your pocket to grab something, but that tiny bit of security can be the difference between someone able to grab something right out of your pocket as you walk by or bump into them. Also has the added benefit of nothing being able to fall out of your pocket either which is good for things like tickets that can slip out easy
