I determined that these were the most common canvas sizes by analyzing the canvases that are carried by online art supply stores. I could have surveyed artists and asked them which canvas sizes they use most often, but I think the sample size would be too small to be accurate.

I figure the most common canvas sizes will be available from the different brands and art supply stores. While he odd, less popular sizes were only carried by a handful of brands.

There are many benefits to using standard canvas sizes. It makes things easier and saves you a lot of time and money.

If you use a common canvas size you can use frames that are already assembled. That's much more affordable than having to pay for custom framing.

You can even buy wood strips that you can easily assemble with very few tools. Floater frames are a cheap way to frame wood panels that are cradled, plus they work with traditional canvases.

When you work within the common sizes like 8x10 it's also much easier to sell prints. You won't have to crop your work in order to get it to fit in the standard print sizes. This is true if you make your own prints or use a print on demand service.

There are matboards that are pre-cut for the most common print sizes. It's so much faster to just be able to assemble the print package. There are bags, matboards, and frames for those sizes.
