Creationists debunked by his own source. Subboor Ahmad vs Elliott Sober

Subboor Ahmad is a Muslim evolution critic who likes to quote academics to support his case. One in particular is Elliott Sober, whom Subboor described as "one of the leading philosophers, one of the most recognized philosophers in the world, in particular, in regards to the philosophy of biology and the philosophy of science. " But this is perhaps one of the only things Subboor gets right. In this video, Elliott Sober reviews Suboor's arguments against evolution and human/chimp common ancestry. And he shows how utterly fallacious they are.
The content Elliott reviews is mostly drawn from a debate I had with Subboor; the full debate can be found here:
The beginning section is taken from Suboor's video here:
The penultimate clip is from this video:

It pretty much boils down to "dont take the biological scientific community and entire industries who rely on their research for applications serious, rely only on my opinion". What a buffoon.

Good discussion! I liked it and shared it.

You know you're dealing with a dishonest apologist when they call those who justifiably believe in evolution "Darwinists"!

So let's say we were to take the different sects of islam, and name them all after the big shot that came up with them (probably some Imam), and called each after that. So they are no longer all muslims, but Chabirrists, Kumanists, Jamahlists (Not good on middle eastern names)... and insist on using them instead of the collective "Muslim", and always saying it in derogatory way as to highlight the hypocrisy behind "The quran has never changed", "there is only one islam"...

Of course the same can work for christians, although finding better designations than their given names like "John Smithists" (Mormons), "Martin Lutherists", "King Jamesists", "Jerry Fallwellists", "Hamiststs", "Hovinists"...

Subboor responded to your stream with more blatant dishonesty, to the fawning adoration of his commenters. Seems like a pretty hollow existence if you ask me, but I suppose some folk just aren’t cut out for the self-undeluded life

A naturalistic explanation is an explanation that doesn't resort to magic.

Admission of being a moron part is the real thing he murmured.

Cultures that lived near great apes (like in africa and southeast asia) pretty much all realized that humans and other apes resembled each other to a great degree. They had different cultural explanations for it, I don't think there were any notions of common ancestry. But the name "orangutan" for instance means "forest people, " so it was recognized that humans and other apes had some sort of connection.

Saboor Ahmad doesn’t have a fundamental understanding of science. Weird confidence when he speaks. He is getting angrier towards the end!

subboors philosophical sophistry is getting old. He has gone full ID by now so if you could debate him on Intelligent Design that would be cool.

He sure is spending a lot of energy debating something he does not want to accept. He doesn't have to accept the fact of evolution if something other than reason is preventing him from doing so.

We all know Subboor’s objection to human chimp common ancestry is religious. He tries to hide it in philosophical terminology. My approach would be to ask him if he accepts sheep goat common ancestry. If he does then he would find it hard to explain in scientific terms why he is inconsistent.

I admire your patience even bothering to debate this guy. There was a time when I used to debate people who denied evolution, the holocaust, climate change etc and they are usually the same people but these days I just ignore them, evidence is useless, they are not interested.

People from the UK or London express themselves so differently from people from the USA, so it is a little challenging to keep up.

Maybe it's the increased speed of the clips, but I find his presentation style super aggressive. Slightly bigger gesticulations than that and I'd be backing away.

You know that Subboor has lost all credibility when he sinks to accusations of racism for simply saying that Africa is the cradle of humanity.
He's a dishonest actor who knows he's lying and misrepresenting everything.

So all of science is just mere speculation, but "God did it" has to be true, because one single book among millions claims it! For this guy of all people, to deny he's a great ape is hilarious!

Hi Phil. I'm all for giving the benefit of doubt. But only out of curiosity, would you mind re-uploading the portion that might have been snipped @ 34:50, even if it wasn't relevant?

I assume it could have been static or a technical issue. But still. Just trying to help you out here, as I know there's some skeptics out there :)

Focus on what it means to be a human being ..first, then if we have any time left over, by all means look at our past.

Can we say that at certain point in human evolution homo sapiens observed the ants and adopted some of the traits that they found beneficial? Not quite sure how tricky it might be for early humans to take inferences from their behavior on division of labor, social hierarchy and other behaviors that are common between us and them. Not too long ago our cave dwelling ancestors didn't have this labor dividing line and almost everyone capable contributed in hunting. Only perhaps after the agrarian societies took over, the division of labor became a thing in humans.
