Creationist Kent Hovind Challenges Me, I Respond

Young earth creationist Kent Hovind recently responded to me and claims I've been brainwashed. He says evolution is a religion and that I've fallen for it. The way he attempts to argue evolution vs creation is not productive, so I discuss what we can do better to elevate the discourse. I'm very careful with response videos and reaction videos, as they often escalate conflict, but I decided to go forward with this video to hopefully encourage us all to do better in these tough conversations.

Kent has done videos on Aron Ra, Matt Dillahunty, Paulogia, Viced Rhino, and more awesome atheist youtubers, so I'm... amused at being someone worthy of responding to. He responded to my deconversion story "This Is Exactly Why I'm an Atheist," where I discuss how I left Christianity, going from evangelical to atheist.

No spongebob dolls were harmed in the making of MY video, but I can't say the same for Kent.

I've seen people dunk on Kent while debunking him, but you did a 100% pacifist run on him. This was absolutely incredible, you have an immense amount of patience and maturity.

Turns out, the punching story wasn't a metaphore. Kent was convicted of domestic violence in 2021.

Kent is not speaking to you, he's speaking to his audience. He's telling them that he'll humiliate them if they voice any doubt. That's brainwashing.

He's not trying to convert atheists, he just tries to impress his followers. Cause that's where the money comes. He cannot afford to lose them. That's his main motivation.

As an ex-Catholic (never really believing, just there because of family tradition), now full-Atheist, I can’t help to notice how religious apologists never really argue facts, but resort to name-calling, interrupt in live discussions, yell & shout in utter distraction.

I wonder why we, as a species, have such a difficult time with honest debate. I catch myself making horrible mistakes all the time. My personal problem is not listening to understand, but rather waiting to respond. You, my good sir could teach a master class on civil discourse. Well done.
