Thanks for the video! 🙂 I like FreeBSD anyway - nice to have a graphical installable one 🙂 But many people look on the time an installation need and how many steps have to be done... In my opinion: no problem if it takes a bit of time. If you have a PC or laptop at home, you won't install daily, so a bit more time does not make a negative argument. All the best!! I hope you will produce more nice videos here!! Cheers, Norbert

This video motivated me to try Nomad for a 15 year old netbook that I enjoy keeping relevant. After installing I took note of which software was used to support the system and will probably do a full FreeBSD install to the onboard storage.

It would be a serious long term contender if it lived in RAM and only wrote to the USB on shutdown. 32 bit is getting harder to support so it is nice to discover a new option. Especially for the HP Mini-1000 series, their size and keyboard are the most comfortable sub-notebooks out there!

I like FreeBSD too. Currently I am waiting for RPi 5 to buy and then install Nomad. I assumed it has Java 21.

Thanks for the video Christopher ! They have changed some things since I last tried Nomad about 4 years ago. I found it a really good OS back then and need to try it out again !

I’ve been keeping an eye on this for a few years too and really appreciate what it brings to us!
I haven’t tried it for many months and r here to see how the new XFCE desktop looked. It looks like the OpenBox of old! Or haven’t they changed over yet?

Last time I've tried NomadBSD it stopped booting after just a simple pkg upgrade command. Because it's hardwired in many ways inside and is not well documented, I was unable to figure out what's going on and just gave up.

Hello folks.

That's strange because I tried fisrt on an old Lenovo X220 (2011) and i worked perfectly. From the img i create another usb stick to boot my Lenovo X280 (2019) and… It don't boot/ The only change from the video is that I choose the zfs one. I will keep you in touch if you which.

I will try again because normadBSD is really attractive, beautiful dans easy to use.

Thanks for the video and al your advises.

Nice presentation Christopher! I'm looking for a minimalistic FreeBSD-based OS that I can install Fluxbox or openbox and build my system up from there. Any suggestion(s)? TIA ..
