My 2020 Honda CRV Hybrid had this issue right after the warranty expired the Electric rack was stiff and making this noise, it cost me a Kings Ransom to have it replaced.

I've got clinking when the vehicle is stationary when I rock the steering far left and right. It doesn't happen when I do it when I'm driving, swaying quickly from left to right on the road. I've had a look underneath and it appears it coming from electric steering mechanism rack. The car is just outside it warranty.. What do you think it is? It's not coming from the wheel assembly or the torsion bar. I initially thought it was coming from the motor because of a weak car battery, the vehicle battery is now getting charged.

So you did not try to do the adjustment using the nut/screw and just suggested to replace the whole thing?

having the same issue will have to replace the rack and pinon. Hopefully, i will fix the clunking.

I think this maybe the case with my 2006 Camry with 218, 000 miles on it. I notice that my steering wheel shakes while driving or coasting when I take my foot of the accelerator. I jacked the car up and did some inspections as I found bad swap bar links are bad on both side but also notice a knocking noise when I rock the wheels side to side. The inner tie boots are ripped from the bottom that must of leaked at some point but my topped off my power steering resolver only once and the level hasn't dropped at all. Do you suggest just replacing the rack anyway old as my car is? Should I go after market or always go OEM for steering rack assembly?

Do you get the clunking when turning the steering wheel. I only get the noise you're doing when turning left and right at a stop sign or red light turning.

When my driving my trick even though it just got alighned, ill be going straight then the steering will suddenly be crooked at 11o clock for a few miles then go back to center then if i hot a bump it will go to 2 o clock. Is that s bad steering rack??

I only hear clunking when turning the wheel. The steering rack was just changed to a new one on a mechanic shop and now it makes this clunking sound
