BlackBerry Q10 Review Part 2

Aaron reviews the BlackBerry Q10, the second BlackBerry 10 smartphone. Specs-wise, the Q10 offers a 1.5 GHz dual-core CPU, 3.1-inch HD display, 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD recording, 2,100 mAh battery, 4G LTE, and BlackBerry 10. It's coming soon to Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile (and most likely AT&T).

While the keyboard is absolutely fantastic for those that email regularly and BlackBerry 10 is a nice refresh over older iterations, the Q10 brings a very tired design back into the spotlight at a price point that is (in some cases) higher than the current industry heavyweights. It's good, but iOS and Android are growing at exponential rates. Can it win over buyers outside of existing BlackBerry users? Part 2 of 2.

I think you summed it up perfectly at the end. Love the QWERTY keyboard, but not willing to give up everything else on the phone to get it.

Nice job Aaron you are very detailed in your presentation. I'm watching this on my iphone4 which I've had 2 years and still love it. I can over from 2 BBs. Primary reason was their browsers were way too slow . If sprint gets it this month I am going for it. I love bring different and will be a happy camper I can tell. Thanks !

The latest updates to 10.1 are great. Super smooth and you can get an even later version than the official carrier releases too.

Hey Aaron, Great review. It helped me a lot to make a decision. I was wondering that even though you have an unlocked q10, how did you get att with "LTE" service in it? I know you can get any service with an unlocked device, BUT "LTE" or 4g??? Is it the same data speed as if you had a carrier version of q10? I have used unlocked phones in the past, from my experience I didn't get that kind of service from my carrier, ie., slow data speed, drop calls etc. Please let me know if you have time. TY.

Aaron, I think one factor you have not covered that would make someone want to purchase a BlackBerry 10 device is because the QNX Operating System on those devices is the ONLY current operating system that runs Adobe Flash without rooting or jailbreaking the phone. This alone has converted several people that I know who mainly go to Flash enabled websites.

If Blackberry had a better app market, I would definitely consider that Q10. I miss that physical keyboard but man, please step it up with the apps.

That camera menu and the Twitter did look buggy, but the rest was smooth. I wonder if he has the latest OS because I have never seen that on my Z10. He also didn't show the features of the latest OS.

Aaron, I watch all your reviews but it seems to me that you might have some issues with this specific device. I think I've seen all reviews of the Q10 and you had more issues with it that anyone else I've seen. It's not you, as I know you know what you are doing, so it must be an issue with the Q10 that you had. Have you used any other Q10s?

i actually enjoyed my Z10 but i still feel there is a need for a keyboard but i do not want to sacrifice the screen size for a keyboard. i am actually hoping Blackberry would consider doing the Torch line but with bigger screen size or maybe the Sidekick 4G design. media and work got to stay on 1 phone nowadays.

I agree with Aaron. I'm using my BlackBerry for just handling my work stuff like e-mail and BlackBerry Messenger. Even more, if my Bold 9930 not broke down, I won't buy a new BlackBerry since it's already enough for fullfill my needs. But for handle the rest like phone, camera, messages, multimedia, social network and etc I prefer using my Note 2 or iPhone. That's a sad thing but that's the fact.

1. Remote access
2. Multitasking
3.Flash
4. Instant actions
5. Browser (media keeps playing even when you switch tabs)
6. Only OS that can play apps from two different platforms
7. HMDI out, DLNA etc
8. Story maker + Time Shift
9. Media Card support (up to 64gb)

Don't get me started on OS 10.2 (USB host + Android Jelly bean 4.2.2 support), to name a few)

Aaron, I usually like your reviews, but you were so biased on this review. I watched a number of reviews on the Q10 and know a lot of people who have one and they said the call quality is the best in the market. Also battery life is excellent. I think the Q10 you have might be defective if you're having so many issues.

Hello, I want to ask a question. I'm planning to purchase BB Q10 and I know there is no homescreen. Would it be possible to move icons in menu so that one screen would be empty and become "homescreen"? Thanks for answers!

I want this phone because it's the best communication device in history. Simply write down what you do on your phone. If it's email, text, call, social network, there is nothing that competes with this phone. If it's Netflix and 3D gaming and the newest apps, get the S4.

Haven't used a bb device for a few years now. I am an android user as well as a Lumia 920 owner. I personally wouldn't buy a bb device for myself but my wife would love the physical keyboard.
She enjoys stock android for its simplicity, but I think she could adjust to the bb os. It would be much nicer if they would make one with a sliding keyboard. I know she would use it then.

I personally love physical keyboards. Were its specs high enough to run today's apps, I would still be using my OG Motorola Droid.

Like on other platforms, most people don't use the native twitter. They use a 3rd party client. For Blackberry users that client in Blaq and is one of the better, if not the best twitter clients on the market, for any platform.
