This is why I miss being back home in Uganda. Sweet and fresh jackfruit, mangos, avocados, sugarcane, pineapples and gooseberries from my grandparents' garden every summer was an experience

Ive had a jackfruit "pulled pork" sandwich a couple times, the sweetness plays in well with the BBQ sauce 🥰

In India we treat jackfruit more like a vegetable we make a spicy dish with it which we can eat with chappatis. It tastes amazing one of my favourite dishes.

In India, the seeds of the ripe jackfruit gets cleaned and dried. Then, we fry those seeds and even put those fries seeds in delicious curries. It tastes so good.

In the Philippines, If you have a lot of acne scars, a freaking elder will definitely say
"Did a jackfruit fell onto your face" 😭😂

I was a picky eater as a kid. My mom used to call it "Pudding of the tree"( Rukh ko kheer) to make it sound interesting and I'd eat it with excitement. Good times

My mom bought this for us rarely. One time when she bought it, i took 3 seeds out from the fruit and now we have 3 jackfruit trees in the garden

It's always interesting when someone describes a smell as "bearable"

As a Brazilian I also can relate to your tropical videos (fruits, vegetables etc). So sad the ones who don't know about this varieties.

I'm actually not sure if that's a common thing in other countries, but here in Brazil cooked jackfruit (our "jaca") is used in numerous vegan recipes as an alternative to meat, specially chicken

It took me a second to realize Uyen wasn't cutting the fruit.

In India we use jackfruit as both veggie and fruit. In South India ( Kerala) we make many dishes with jackfruit with almost all part. We fry jackfruit that's not ripen and it's so tasty and with ripen jackfruit we dried it in sunlight and eat, it's so sweet and crispy 😋 we boil jackfruit seed and when it's cooked we peeled the outer skin of the seed and dip it in a sauce that we made with red chili, small onion, garlic, oil and salt and eat it. It's taste so damn good. There are many dishes we can try with just one Jackfruit 😋 u can use the inner skin and the center part (idk how to explain it in English sorry 😅) of jackfruit as a substitute of chicken and make a jackfruit (without) chicken curry 😅

When I was an art student in college I had an eccentric art professor who wanted to reward us one week with muffins. The next day he walked in and said "so I know I said I was going to buy you guys muffins, but I found this amazing fruit at the store and I had to buy it. It made my car smell weird." We spent half the class sitting in a circle, passing around the fruit, feeling it, smelling it, and talking about it. It was a jackfruit. Turns out you can make substitute chicken with it lol.

I'm from Kerala (India) and Jackfruit is our official fruit.Becoz almost every part of a Jackfruit is used by us, Keralites and in older times, these parts including the seed and even that spikey outer part were used by our ancestors to end their hunger for a wholedamn year!

I have seen several reviews of jackfruit, and this is the one that made me want to consider it. Your sweet and wholesome way of explaining it made me feel like it’s worth a try.! ❤
