Malayalam word "Jaca." When Portuguese sailor Vasco da Gama first arrived in Kerala, India, they took this fruit to Europe. Over time, the name changed to "jackfruit" in English, while it's still called "Jaca" in Portuguese. The same story applies to "Mango, " which is "Manga" in Kerala language Malayalam.

This fruit takes me back. My grandparents' house used to have a huge jackfruit tree and some used to weigh more than 30kg and were like a 2.5 foot ellipse. My grandma used to store slices of those fruits In a jar of honey and let it soak. You eat it, and it tastes like the best thing ever, and she also made use of the seeds to put them in curry. She taught me how jackfruit, mango and plantain's every part could be used to cook a dish that was healthy and absolutely delicious . Now both my grandparents are gone and that tree lives on only in our memories. Miss you grandma and grandpa🥺

In Kerala, jackfruit is our official fruit.we make chips, curry, kheer, sweets etc.Dried fruit and it's seed is used for making varities of food including steam cake.seeds are used for making milk shake.Its not just food its an emotion.
