Taking breaks is more difficult than it sounds.

I wish he mentioned it, because I believe this is the most important remedy:
When you're looking at screens for extended periods of time - take a break.

I think a weakness in this video is that he just kind of off handily mentioned this and didn't put enough emphasis on it, but I found that the most important thing for your eye health is to make sure you're taking breaks.

Is this Computer Vision Syndrome? My symptoms are: Blurred and grainy vision, feeling disorientated/out of my body, dry eyes, light sensitivity, losing awareness, nervousness etc. Symptoms get better at night but always worse if i use larger screen than my smartphone. And if i use computer for more than 30 minutes, the symptoms carry on with my day for example taking a walk is bad after computer use. Passing cars give me dizziness, large groups of people, grocery stores, walking in woods etc. It also affects my mental health in long run. I tried 4 days without using my pc and the symptoms literally disappear, and i felt significantly better and happier. I always thought it was probably anxiety but im not so sure anymore.. anybody feel the same or have gone through this?

I listened to this with my eyes closed. Maybe, I should listen to more podcasts than I usually do...so I can keep my eyes open.

Wow totally impressed with how nonchalantly he talks about the issue. Just watching this video has made half of my eye strain go away. 'Indulge a little bit, get t a cupcake, go shopping, buy something nice, get a credit card. Lol loved hearing those lines.

You could use the Eye Saver program - it reduces the emitted blue light and eliminates the monitor flickering and has break reminders. It's very useful and it cares for your health. You can get it from www.eye-saver.net

When I look at the computer for long periods of time, my eyes.. well... it's hard to explain, but my vision becomes a little bit 'weird'. They seem to focus on one thing MUCH more than they should, because it seems like the thing i'm focusing on appears so close, which is mostly the computer screen or when I look down at the keyboard to type. Is this Computer Vision Syndrome, or is it something else?

PS: The effect usually only lasts for about 5-10 minutes or so.

I have light sensitivity too. He doesn't mention that.

Informative video. As for me, I have been using ocushield screen protector for both my laptop and iPhone. It's supposed to block the harmful bluelight that keeps us up at night. Lately, I am waking up feeling more refreshed after using my iPhone late into the night. So it could be helping me a lot.

Ive been working in IT for 30 years and am 55 yo. I can see great. However, In the last year i've had to increase the magnification in reading glasses 3 times. I am useless my reading glasses at work.. I recently started having terrible headache after 30 minutes in front of screen and living on Advil - i usually don't feel well until the next morning. I've had to take a bunch of days off this last month. I have LTD with my employer, but have not told details to anybody at work or even seen a medical professional. I am wondering if it comes to this, will my LTD provider decline my claim based on ability to other types of work? What steps should i take to protect my job given i will need to take time and production will suffer.
