Policing your brass is a form of accounting in the Australian military. If you're for example given 90 rounds to fire on the range, they want 90 spent rounds back. Apparently it's to stop certain types of live ammo finding its way off base and into civilian hands etc etc.

That's why the minimum amount of opiates permitted in your blood is gauged at having at least one or two of these a day. I know this because in New Jersey it wasn't like that, and a gentleman was fired from the department of corrections about 30 years ago for opiates when he failed a drug test. He insisted and had medical backing that eating two poppy seed bagels every morning with butter gave him this level, he folded all the way up to the state supreme Court, and one. After two years he was reimbursed for all of his time lost his vacation his medical he had lost his house for failing to pay his mortgage because he was unemployed, they had to repurchase his home at an elevated cost the cleanup of this catastrophe was astronomical, and then New Jersey established a minimum opiate level that would allow for the consumption of two poppy seed beggles a day.

Marine from 1987 to 1995, scout sniper. Policing your own brass was a survival tool but I understand what your saying. One a range day, the volume of brass is immense.

As a current contractor and prior enlisted I agree with your comment on how contractors are treated better. I make more money, work fewer hours, have more paid days off, and being a disabled vet I have very good job security. Do your initial contract then become a contractor and retire from that.

Picking up brass just kills any fun you just might have had at the range

Brass is actually recycled to make more rounds it helps reduce cost significantly. I know it sucks I was in the Army, but it actually makes perfect sense. What doesn’t make sense though is when we would waste thousands of rounds in order not to fill out extra forms to get the same amount next range. Iykyk.

I did armed contract work in Afghanistan after leaving the military. We were treated like garbage, our leadership treated us horribly and screwed us over and all green suits thought we were overpaid so they hated us and were disrespected by them. They could easily get us in trouble but if we reported them, nothing would happen. Would've been nice to be on contract where everyone didn't treat you like a mongrel dog.

Point #1 Bullsh!t flag: your have to eat like 50 poppy seed cake to meet the threshold to pop hot on the UA (Former DTPAM here)

Point #2: BS flag on the play! Military sells brass at premium because it's already sorted, and verified with no explosive contents. If the buyers were to do it we'd have to pay them! (Retired Range officer)

Point#3: Absolutely 100% correct!!! (Retired 21 years, now contractor)

As someone who’s not in the military, I’ve heard stories of soldiers having to spend countless hours searching for their used brass. Could one bring their own brass catcher net and use that during range time in order to collect all the brass easily? Or is that not allowed? Seems like a no brainer

Worked in a hospital and years ago when we'd do a physical, it was noted that one would have to consume a LOT of poppy seeds to test positive.

Sir if the contractor had to pick up the brass they would have to charge the gov for it !! That's why we had to pick it up so we could get a better price for the lbs !!! Have a good one and god bless !!!
