The "rock or something" will always be my favorite printed instructions

For those who don’t know, MREs that need to be heated in the bag literally have a diagram of the bag resting on the heating element against a rock labeled “Rock Or Something”.

"MREs, theyre edible" is the only way to accurately describe an MRE

When you’re wet, cold and exhausted in the middle of the woods. A warm MRE is bussin.

My stepdad got his hands on some MRE's when I was a teenager. They weren't great, but they weren't horrible either. It was an interesting experience.

The trick with the heater is to put salt in before the water, and shake it all up until it's hard to hold with the cardboard sleeve, then prop it up mostly flat (just at enough of an angle to keep the water in) with the heating element below the meal. Knead the package as much as you can manage until you feel it become more smooth, almost like a liquid. Let it cool a bit, and enjoy. My favorite one is chili with beans, do the above with it and crumble some cornbread in and it can turn a bad, rainy field op into a slightly less bad, rainy field op

This is a very fair assessment of an mre, I’ve had thousands while on active duty

My favorite MRE was the tuna salad one. It is starkiss tuna, relish, mayo and, a tortilla. It also has chocolate covered coffee beans that are a must have for a 3 am guard shift or an all night convoy.

I remember the first time I had an MRE. It was more memorable just because it was new to me. Though The Jalepeno cheese spread is the best part.

Heater works better if you shake it after adding water but before you put the meal in. Also putting the cardboard piece around the heater bag after you put the meal in keeps the steam and such in the bag.

When I was a kid, I was in the Civil Air Patrol, and we ate a lot of MREs during our training. Cheese spread on the cracker was awesome. And the BBQ pulled pork was amazing. They also came with 10 year old m&ms at the time. Not sure if they still do that.

After the 2 different hurricanes I've lived through. Mres were handed out to the people of my city. Boxes of them. They kept us fed, and since i was a teenager, it was actually enough food for my body lol

MREs are great especially when you are in a area that deals with tornado and hurricanes.
Living in South Louisiana I ate my share of them. Definitely good after a few days of sandwichs, and no power or natural gas to cook

Steve was all of our MRE gurus and you cannot deny that fact.

I love MREs. The vegetable crackers and jalapeno cheese spread are the best. Chilimac is the most popular. My mom got tonnes of boxes of warfighter rations for free because my dad would bring them home from training. So me and my sister could eat them all we want in between hurricane seasons.

I kept a few in the truck in case i got stuck out in a produce field or something, 15 years ago.
They came with a chalk energy bar back then.

During a hurricane I was hooked on this shit. I was also stoned the entire time but I thought it was so cool eating and heating meals without fire lol😊

Put the peanut butter in the heater with the main course and it's much better. Also wiggle the heater in the water for a bit and wait for it to start getting warm then put the stuff in. Takes around 10-15 mins for it to get hot
