80's MRE beef patty was freeze dried. Like eating a piece of vaguely beef flavored styrofoam. They had pork, too.

Once had to eat British mres for a week and it actually tastes decent when you have no other food source, as soon as you're back home you dont want to touch it again

They have MKTs “mobile kitchens” in combat situations or the field. TYPICALLY lunch will always be MRE but there’s times ALL meals are MREs and when that’s all you have, it can be exciting like you saw how this Sgt was. Like a kid opening mystery packages

If you haven't tried an mre. I suggest you get one at an army surplus store just to see what they're like. I never served, but it is hard to eat, yet it's what the people fighting for our freedom eat! So you get a sense of how hard it is out there

I like his enthusiasm 😅 even at my worst, i have never been this happy to eat an MRE. But eating a simple small apple was amazing after eating MREs for 3 months. I ate the whole thing with the core.
