There is so much to love about California and I miss living there but it’s not worth it financially…I have a large house with a big green yard in NC ..paid in full. That wouldn’t have happened for me there. I gave up a lot ..but I have a life now ..I have freedom to live a good life

I moved to Oregon in 2014. Came back to live with family in California from 2020-2023. Finally left after 3 years because even if you grind and have support from family, you still can’t afford to live on your own. I’m in New Mexico now. It’s a poor state but life is so much simpler.

The government creates inflation to collect more money. Is way to "tax" the hell out of us without "raising taxes". Capital gains and property taxes, and other taxes should ve adjusted to inflation. That will avoid bad fiscal policies. Real estate, food etc has not increased in value. You need more devaluered dollars to buy the same thing that cost much less a few years ago.

Been all over the US. Beautiful places everywhere but nowhere has everything California has. But idk if it’s really worth the cost now. Fortunately my wife and I bought our home when it was expensive but more affordable for people who work regular jobs.

I left..and I am comfortable here in Oklahoma..the cost and ridiculous cost of living prices in California I wonder how anyone can live there anymore..I will always miss being in San Diego..but my money goes farther elsewhere

Those that moved to Nevada years ago, now find out that it's getting too expensive to even live there. That's the issue of Californians moving to other places. They bring California inflation with them.

Granted San Diego is expensive but with a budget of 700k you can buy a 2 or 3 bedroom 1 bath with a yard and garage in Lemon Grove for example. If that’s not to your liking then maybe San Diego just isn’t for you. So many people insist on being entitled and live beyond their means. I get it. You can get a massive nice house elsewhere but it ain’t SD.

No one mentions taxes? Payroll taxes on median income are Fed income 22%, FICA 7.65%, Medicare 3.9%, CA income 9.3% = 43% marginal tax. CA sales tax 8.8%, gas = $4.5/gallon, property = .74%. CA's additional costs of crime(security measures, car breakins, catalytic convertor theft) and taxes are hollowing out the middle class.
