I like that they talk more about how she does a lot of nice things. Dipper is also selfish sometimes and faces consequences for some of her actions. I’m afraid I have to disagree with their dislike for the story Don’t Dimension It, though, and I find it odd that they take issue with Dippy Fresh, which you're supposed to dislike and hate Mable for creating. But otherwise, the video is excellent.

Is everyone here completely stupid? Mabel pushed Dipper just to emphasize her joke about his browsing history and he accidentally stepped on the lever, all of which I’m saying is a coincidence. It’s no one’s fault ffs

While I do think a good number of CC West's points hold water, a thing I took issue with his video was how some of the points he brought up weren't so much malicious acts on her part as much as they were unforeseeable consequences. While yes it would've been more responsible for Mabel to break up with Gideon herself, how was she supposed to know that having Dipper do it for her would cause him to go nuts? Up to that point he just seemed like a decent kid.

“I think he’s an awesome guy.” Things that don’t look like they’ll age like milk WILL age horribly, you just never know.

8:23 You trying to justify this scene despite it being 100% morally wrong for her to do that just shows me you're completely biased towards Mabel.

As someone who happens to be a grown up version of mabel, this video puts me at ease because CC West labelled mabel unfairly. I love the point that you raised about how none of the main characters ever experienced any growth (except we do see various points when stan had shown growth in subtle and beautiful ways). I love how you mentalized this entire thing and believed in your own opinion. I feel less alone because I felt cornered that if people hated mabel, people wouldn't like me either. And I love how all the characters are flawed!

Considering what's now become of CC West, I think it's safe to say the debate is now done for given its biggest advocate is well...you probably already know by now. I still think that, despite the dislikes on this video, you were fair and did a good job of trying to respect West's opinions while arguing against them. I think if you uploaded this video today, it would fair way better given the Mabel hate discourse is a lot less now in the fandom. And now with CC West's career over, it's unlikely that video will ever resurface in a major capacity again. Side note, your video is now the first one when someone looks up West's Mabel video, lol.

Why do people always act like they didn't BOTH make bad discussions?? In the puppet episode when Dipper gave Bill a puppet in exchange for the password he did it KNOWING IT WAS BILL... But when Mabel gave Bill the rift she didn't know it was him or was supposed to know anyways. In the pool episode Dipper didn't want the job to have a job he wanted the job so he could talk to Wendy, a girl who has NEVER showed actual interest in him, and I'm not 100% but I think most (definitely not all) of Mabel's crushes did show interest or they seemed like they did. Another example is in the flashlight episode, he caused all of that because he didn't like how he was slightly shorter than Mabel, "Mabel made fun of him!" okay? And? This isn't the first time she's made fun of him in the show, and they're siblings too, of course they're gonna make fun of eachother like that. (I'm sure I could name at least 1 or 2 more but wtv) Overall, Mabel being a "jerk" or "selfish" is super realistic if you're using how mature Dipper acts as an example, but thats just me.
("Dipper is responsible and mature and Mabel is selfish and immature 🤓☝️" girl PLEASE shut up‼️😇 Mabel defender till I die‼️🗣️)

2:43 if I was holding a jar that had what seems like a rift in space I’d assume it’s pretty dangerous especially if a time traveling man from the future is asking for me to give it to him

My personal opinion: I don't think Mabel is a terrible person, she might not mean the bad things she did, especially since she is still 12, which is completely understandable, I still don't like her, since she still DID those acts, if you did something bad, even if you didn't mean it even if you are doing it with other people, you still did it.

No offense, but it really seems like you’re just blaming Dipper for situations that Mabel still caused. Like the one with Dipper accidentally stepping on the lever. How is that Dippers fault? Mabel literally pushed him! Honestly I want to take this video seriously, but I can’t because it just feels like you’re demonizing Dipper, and seeing Mabel in the rose tinted glasses for whatever reason. I’m not going to tell you your opinion is wrong, but if you have to blame another character for said characters bad moments when they didn’t do anything your argument is pretty weak. Also if you can’t acknowledge a character’s weakness without acknowledging another characters weakness, then you’re not really acknowledging that characters flaws, you’re just trying to put them with all the other bad characters so they look better, basically making them the worst of the best, that argument is fairly weak too.

The relation between Stan and Dipper improved over the time (3:24)
5:35 The conclusion of this would have been, that Mable wouldnt be so egoistic, but nothing changed. Dipper would have seen this lie, it would have been out of character if Dipper would have believed Bill, since he hangs around Mable the whole holiday.
7:02 Also egoistic, when a pet comes over the ( even when it wasnt possible for Dipper to come together with Wendy, the thought of it is important here) happiness of a twin brother. She only knew the pig a day long and Dipper don‘t even say explicitly, why he should give Waddles back. As if it was to clear, that she should have it.
10:10 But the writing of this was bad, why should it be Dippers fault, that Mable lives in a bubble? This is some strange message, that you shouldnt follow your dreams because of your twin. Mables first reaction to it is human, I agree to that extremly, but she didnt learn anything on this topic, only that reality is better and the future isnt to be feared, which contradicts with the message mentioned before.
11:40 Just a short mention, I think it was just some sort of style, so this doesnt get boring.
13:18 You can use the „human“ argument here as well.
14:00 This thing is way to both sided for an argument, since you can say, that he could learn it on his own.

Not gonna lie, while I loved Mabel, she was always reckless and unforgiving.

Not to mention that Gideon clearly doesn’t take rejection well—there are so many reasons why a girl might avoid rejecting a guy-

4:03 It isnt a good thing that she initiates problems for Dipper to deal with, conflict is good for entertainment but not for a character
5:33 Downright false, Bill is a scumbag but what he said is true, Mabel always made Dipper sacrifice something for her selfish gain, and Bill just pointed out her horrible behavior to get what he wanted
6:56 You had nothing good to say here, she overreacted to the point of messing with time travel because of a fucking pig, she is in the wrong and nothing can be said against it that isn't stupid

Personally, I feel like you defended Mabel too much while the guy in the video ragged on Mabel too much. Her character isn't some sort of awful person that everyone should have, but it is also undeniable that she does act out selfishly quite often. It can be debated that she only does this when emotional, but personally I don't think that should factor in to an analysis of her character as a whole because the way that someone expresses and deals with emotions shows who they truly are.

If my sister did anything Mabel did in episode, I'd totally talk about it with her.

I would’ve liked an apology in the show (she apologized in the comic) and some more development, but when she does the things she does I think it’s just for comedy and to portray the sibling relationship. Dipper doesn’t tease her as much, but it’s part of his personality and it worked out for her development in the end.
Also on the apocalypse thing, a lot of people are saying she willing started it as if she said “yeah Ill start the apocalypse” Some people hate Mabel and that’s their choice but she never agreed to start an apocalypse, her actions led to that (that’s still pretty bad but I was just saying c what’s factually correct.

12:46 I’m sorry but your reasoning has me laughing, #1 that wasn’t a small bump on the back that was a full on shove and as someone who animates myself that wouldn’t be counted as a “small bump” animation wise. #2 this clearly shows you are being biased with your opinion on Mabel, I don’t know how you’d think it was Dippers fault for being too clumsy because being clumsy looks like stumbling yourself or tripping over something. Not getting shoved and falling due to someone else’s fault that they did on purpose.
