"I know Steven from way back, we used to rob cars together" this is an expert level gag. If he's said "he's a Scouser, he robs cars" it's a lazy stereotype that most of Liverpool are sick of hearing. But he say's "we" so he makes a joke at both their expense, while still getting the Liverpudlian gag out the way. Romesh would do great in Liverpool.
