The Fermi Paradox and Its Solutions (The Dyson Dilemma)

The sky is full of stars, yet despite the great age of the universe, there are no signs of galactic civilizations. How can this be? Did they go somewhere? Are we alone?

The Fermi Paradox is probably familiar to anyone who watches this channel. Nevertheless, I thought it appropriate to give it some attention before the next video, just like I did the videos on Entropy and the Anthropic Principle before the Consequences of Time Travel video. Gotta make sure the groundwork is solidly in place.

I've watched a couple other videos on the Fermi Paradox, and I enjoyed the succinctness of your explanation of the paradox and some of the potential solutions. Looking forward to more!

This is all really interesting. Thanks for explaining it all!

I believe that either we are one of the first civs to spawn in the galaxy, or other civs have spawned but have not reached a high technological level. And maybe we just haven't been listening for long enough

I think the flaw in the Fermi paradox is the assumption that we should see them. But in fact we couldn't see them at all unless they did something really dramatic like Dysoning a galaxy. There could be millions of ET civs and we wouldn't know it.

(I think that interstellar civs just aren't desirable. There's no economic benefit to the homeworld, but there are some risks, so it just doesn't happen.)

I thought the universe ends well before a trillion years passes
