2x - 7x = -15 - 5
-5x = - 20
5x = 20
x = 20/5

For the equation 2x + 5 = 7x - 15, why is it that you subtract the coefficient in the first step yet divide the coefficient in the last one?

5:20 Can u actually do "whatever you want", what's preventing you from subtracting 2x from both sides instead of 5?
