Toyota HiLux 48V Hybrid V-Active 2024 review - Rogue 4x4 (inc off-road)

preview_player
Показать описание

It still has a 2.8L turbo-diesel engine, with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system integrated into the powertrain to aid it in stop-start traffic, with a multi-mode stop-start system to help recharge the battery pack.

The battery drives a belt-driven motor generator that can assist the engine, and help use less fuel in urban driving, too.

There are some other changes that I'll cover off in this review, including interior changes and payload considerations, but watch along -- and see if you think the new MTS (Multi Terrain System) from the 300 Series having been added is worth the extra money, too!

My hilux has a beautiful ride quality. I don't get all these comments about it being rough. It's soo comfy and I do long distances and it's very relaxing and effortless.

Looking at the mileage of used utes, most Hilux owners/ fleet vehicles will be at the dealership every 3-4 months for servicing.
Also that interior is every part of 2012.

The most pointless spec ever… They should really focus on a next gen update. That interior is horrible and the reverse camera has the same quality as a $20 phone, And to top it off it drive like it’s on cut springs. Whoever still buys a new Hilux has more money than sense.

I own the 2023 Roque and agree with your brutally honest review. Its great as a work UTE but really crap family/lifestyle vehicle, especially when you compare it to the Ranger.
Dropping tyre pressures on the Hilux does help to remove some of the harshness and makes it more liveable but not ideal for tyre life and handling.

Im an owner of the 24 rouge and the mileage is still the same.
Still a great ute.

You can mostly tell when city slickers review a serious Toyota 4WD, because they always go on about other brand options, which most serious off road 4WD, farmers, rural tradies and serious remote touring adventurers would never consider, and for good reasons. Like reliability, accessory options and a strong nation wide support network, like Toyota has. They get sucked in by all the mod cons that the competition flaunts at cheaper prices, rather than the more serious issues as I just mentioned, because they just don't get it. It's as if they are reviewing a standard 2WD on road vehicle.

After seeing what Mitsubishi did to the new triton with all the driver annoyance and environmental junk they added I rushed out and purchased a rogue. I will be picking it up next week hopefully. Personally I this this years hilux may end up a real gem when it comes to resale as people look to upgrade later and work out its the last chance to dodge all the rubbish that manufacturers are being forced to bolt onto utes.

Toyota Japanese build, Ford Thailand built, GWM Chinese built. I know which one I would take! Reliability and resale you can’t beat Toyota. So many issues with the Ford that’s never much talked about and there after sales service is disgusting, I know people who are going through hell!! If you are serving a diesel more than 10, 000kms I’d be worried.

Can't afford it so not much that troubles me about this. Thanks for the review - it shows why the challenger brands are increasingly visible on the road.

Not bad if it was a 50k ute.
Is it worth 80k? Yeh, bahhhh m8.

Pardon the ignorance, but is it more comfortable in the back seat? I’ve been on the fence between this and the Ranger Wildtrak with the intention of going on interstate trips with my wife and two kids, but two mechanic friends have suggested I buy the Hilux for reliability. Thoughts please?

I want to fit the bull bar on my new Hilux (this model), Any suggestions? Which brand is the best and fits?

I live in the bush and the new ford rangers struggle under Australian conditions out in the deserts. Hilux are the best utes in Australia and resale is alot better then ford amorok Nissan Mazda etc plus Toyota's comprehensive car insurance from there dealers are legitimately exactly what you need.

If they only had an option of an sr or sr5 spec with the wide track format.
Would sell like hotcakes in Aus!
