You are the most practical & honest 4x4 adventure tourer. No BS or fancy words just direct. Good on you. Greetings from an unusually sunny Auckland. Have a good ANZAC weekend mate. TC

We definitely need the heated seats in Aus! Maybe not in WA but where i live it regularly gets into the negatives.

Well done Ronny. I’ve been waiting for someone to have a look at the new Hilux. None of the big guys like Carexpert, drive et al have not put anything out but you know what the public want.

Just another reason to keep your old 4x4

I absolutely agree the new trucks have more tech than my BMW. I would definitely keep the older off road vehicles less is more. Cheers from So Cal Ronny!!😊😊😊

Heated seats are an absolute godsend when doing water sports in winter.

Watching from the US. Was in Brazil last week week and seeing Hilux everywhere. Within the next 24 months, we're moving to Mexico and, while in Brazil, I was researching Hilux v Tacoma - I guess that's why you came into my feed. The plan is to drive to Ushuaia and back again to our home in Mexico. Excellent video, Tacoma's and Hilux are both obtainable in Mexico whereas only Tacoma is available in the US.

Toyota has really dominated the hybrid market for the last 2 decades. It’s progressive to see that extending to their entry level off-road models.

Great review. People forget Toyota have been doing hybrid stuff for over 10 years now. The hilux will do perfectly fine. Another thing. Really good to see Toyota have an auto stop start button most companies will hide and bury the function into the system. Might have to make the upgrade now.

IMO the 48V mild-hybrid are there to keep the emission/fuel consumption numbers down, so they can keep selling these cars for years to come.

I recently hired a plug in hybrid wrangler during a trip to the USA. You can purchase a power bank adapter which plugs into the charger terminal and you can use it for camping power. However, I don't think they will bringing out the hybrid wrangler in oz anytime soon.

And in Australia you don't need heated seats? Come on Ronny we don't all live in WA. It's usually -3 to 3 degrees in the outer skirts of Sydney and that's not nowhere near as cold as it gets in other parts.

Toyota have been making cars using mild hybrid systems since about 2000 so they have history and experience with the technology. Definitely interested to see how this goes once they've been on the road for a while.

Good to see manufacturers improvising with technology as i dont see an EV option working for people who want to go off road and long distance touring

Sales rep just told me today that basically 48v system saves 0.5l/100km and has better response. 0.5l adds up over which seems worth it.

Regardless in New Zealand it seems unless u want a manual, all autos are now 48v hybrids.

Plus stop start probably will be great in Auckland traffic. Will save a ton of fuel sitting at the lights and while also be in complete silence. Im sold imo.

Thx Ronnie. Just put an order in for the Rogue, as you say the world is moving towards hybrids, and I think this mild hybrid is the less painful way to go. The interior changes are much better, and I’m glad to see someone comment on the drive train/engine on and off road.

Not sure if people are aware but you can still order a hilux without 48v, only in the sr model though, there are two models of sr, one with steel wheels, vinyl flooring and no 48v and the other has alloy wheels, carpet and 48v.
I just picked up my steel wheel sr and absolutely love it.
Side note: the non 48v lux only comes in white as it’s more of a fleet option

I use my heated seats all winter and would always tick that box when buying a car. I live SW of Perth so it is colder. As for the fuel saving. As soon as the owner swaps the tyres for a set of bigger heavier all terrains the savings are more than gone.

For all the reviews on Youtube, I trust Ronny's opinions more than most other's facts...
