China's economic growth is set to fall behind the rest of Asia for the first time since 1990, according to the World Bank. It expects the Chinese economy to grow 2.8 percent this year - nearly half of what was previously forecast. The slowdown is largely due to a downturn of the property market and Beijing's Zero-Covid policy. The World Bank cut its forecast for the Asia Pacific Region as a whole to 3.2 percent. after 40 years of extraordinarily fast growth, it's important to break a bit. There's no comparison between China and other Asian countries. China's economy is as large as the rest of the Asia combined.

This report is skewed, China’s economic growth will unlikely be the fastest in Asia because it’s already so large at 19 trillion usd in 2022. That’s like saying the US growth is slower than Vietnam or India. But even at 2.3% of 19 trillion usd, China’s economy would add 450 billion usd which is larger than a lot of country’s entire gdp including Singapore and Vietnam.

As more developed a country becomes as more the markets get closer to the saturation line as smaller the growth in percent.
So comparing China with Vietnam is nonsense.
I remember when 40% growth of Chinese gdp did not match 1% growth of US gdp in absolute numbers.
Covid strategy has its effect and the new risen tensions by the Biden team.
