People keep saying black is too formal, but surely i depends. if its pinstriped, patterned or textured, it can't be that formal as those elements make it look more casual.
I used to be goth and I'm still very much only comfortable wearing black. So the idea of wearing navy or grey makes me uncomfortable and I hate how I look in them. You can't look good if the suit doesn't make you feel good. I've seen a black 3 piece suit with red pinstripes that I love and plan on getting, sure its a little "fashion forward" and not everyone's taste. But I don't mind standing out, I usually do.

Useful! I've lost weight. I got rid of suits, because 6" is a lot to take in. Some very large man got an epic suit haul at a charity thrift shop.
