Qui-Gon's spirit: "Why didn't you use force speed to save me?!"
Obi-Wan: "I spent all the level bonus points on Charisma, Master."
Qui-Gon's spirit: "Oh... understandable..."

Let's be honest. Many of us use the force speed in the KOTOR games primarily to walk faster through the maps. Those open worlds were HUGE 😅

"MAY cause weakness" and "WOULD have made him weak" are 2 different levels of certainty.

Why didn't Qui-Gon just back up once the laser gates opened and wait for Obi-Wan to catch up?

*Obi-Wan:* "I can make it! I can make it-"
*Laser Gate shuts*
*Obi-Wan:* "Ah, no big de-"
*Qui-Gon gets stabbed by Maul* ☠️

I think the better question is why didn’t Qui-Gon take a step back and wait for his apprentice, we’ll take him together

Theres also the matter of fact that he didn't know when the laser wall were going to close down and if he used force speed theres a pretty big chance he would've been disintegrated by them.

Considering how bold and brash he was, I am surprised Ben didn't use Force Speed if only to attempt to save his master.

I never interpreted Force Speed in the gamified temporary boost concept. It was just the augmented speed the force user had while channeling the force into their body in combat.

By that take it's not that Obiwan didn't use force speed, but that he was already using it as were Quigon and Maul

That makes sense. We’ve seen it in episode two with grandmaster Yoda after he fights Count Dooku. Yoda use for speed while dueling with Dooku and after he stops the beams from falling onto Anakin and Obi-Wan, we see how tired Yoda is. So I take this theory as being the truth.

I allways imaged, that he was using it at that time.
But, whe saw the scene only in his view or point (mean, it looked slower for us, as it truly was).
And, that the doors simply closed so fast again that even force speed was to slow for a full run.

Better question: why couldn't he have used the Force to telekinetically interfere with the fight? He had time to stand there and concentrate while he was stuck in the corridor instead of just watching as if it were a spectator sport.

It’s not bad writing, it’s good writing the Obi Wan likely forgot in the heat of the moment and was haunted by the mistake for the rest of his life

It’s called to move the plot
The holes in Star Wars are everywhere all the time haha

I always thought that he didn't use this ability because there was a high chance that he would take out Qui Gon and Maul at high speed like a dump truck or just hurt them both with his lightsaber.

I thought they were already using it but since Maul was a force user too, he's also using the force speed throughout the fight. Meaning that to a force user, they were normal speed but to normal creatures they're tweaking.

I firmly beleive if qui gon hadnt died obi wan wouldn't have gained the anger and focus needed to defeat maul.. if it had gone down any other way they both would have lost

Ever noticed how when you watch DragonBall Z, you can see the fighters moving but then they show an outsiders point of view and its too fast to be seen?

Yea the same thing is happening when you watch a Jedi fight.

Lack of Focus, also Obi-wan didn't had yet the training/stamina for using force speed and fight Maul without being a burden to Quin-gon
