I’ve had traps set up for over a week with no success. You replied to my comment suggesting the cinnamon. I sprinkled a bit on my traps, blew it into the air and by the time I shut the garage door and took two steps to the stairs I heard a snap, checked and got a rat. Crazy how effective that cinnamon is! Thanks for that tip!

TWINS!!!! IT WORKED!!!! I have been trying to catch this guy for 3 weeks. Nothing has worked until now! Tried the T-Rex traps with the bait cup, pecan, Nutella, Tootsie Roll, bread, and even a live trap with all the fixings. NOTHING! Then yesterday I tried the Twins baiting technique and this morning....BINGO!
THANK YOU TWINS!

I had a issue with a rat in the yard. I set that wooden trap 10 times with mounds of peanut butter and the rat was just feasting. I followed your fabric hack and a hour later while sitting in the yard I heard the trap go off. Thanks for the video!!

Thank you for the cinnamon tip. It worked like a charm. Don't know why so many sites tell you rats hate cinnamon.

I found your video a few days ago. I've had a field mouse/rat problem outside my house but they are under my house for sure.
So I went and got these traps after watching your video. Got a piece of old t-shirt and put it through the bait tab, pinched It in place. Covered that board with peanut butter, Covered that cloth with peanut butter. I forgot to get cinnamon so I looked around in my cupboards and found some granola. Crushed it up really well. Set the trap, put the granola down all around, not much, just enough to entice. Got the trap tied off as well 2am my time right now, I set my trap at 930. One dead mouse. Worked perfect. It's face was on the cloth lol. It had been sucking on it and licking it and it pulled just enough and snap.

I've never done this. My very first time and this absolutely worked 100%. Probably had that mouse within 2 hours. Because it was stiff already.
I have a dog so I refuse to use poisons plus I don't want rats/mice eating poison then dying in my walls. I'll see how it goes and give an update in a week or so!

This method absolutely

I have found about 10-20% of my rats are too smart to approach a regular trap of any kind, I found that by covering a Rat trap with blown in attic insulation to camouflage the trap, I get them all. I only leave the peanut butter on the trigger showing. That hides the mechanical trap and they walk right onto the covered trap and it gets them. I discovered this with a surveillance video camera I used to watch. I had seen that the smart ones could distinguish any trap type. When I hid it with insulation, it fooled them every time.

You can also drive nails through the wood trap sharp points facing up on the inside perimeter of the kill bar, big rats are sometimes able to get snapped and pull themselves out from under the kill bar without getting their necks broken or suffocating. The nails make it so the rat can’t back out of a trap. Think BOA CONSTRICTOR TEETH 🐍👍🏻👍🏻✌🏻

I used beef jerky and peanut butter. Slim Jim to be exact. Worked great.

Can’t wait to try this. I have great luck with traps, but I do get lazy and forget to tie them sometimes. My chickens draw them in and my traps draw them out.

I’ve had real good success using Reese’s peanut butter cups.
They love them as much as I do.

This is the video I was looking for, and not all those irrelevant "DIY mousetraps" that doesn't work.

We have a mouse (or more) that's been plaguing the household for days. All our old mousetraps seems useless, as they've been rusting away in the shed for years.
I went and purchased a pack of 2 mousetraps for $1, and set them up with some peanut butter.
The next day the peanut butter was eaten, and the trap still armed...

After watching this video, I just went to the shed, and upgraded these 50 cent traps, one by one.
Your tips were very valuable. Here's what I did:
- Cut two strips from some old underwear, and placed them under the hook on the trigger.
- Bent the hook on the trigger down to clamp the cloth.
- Bent the trigger-arm slightly downwards.
- Sharpened the end of the trigger-arm with a file.
- Soaked the cloth in peanut butter, and smeared some on the platform below.

After these modifications, I armed the traps, and gently tapped the trigger with a small rod.
Before I had to tap multiple times, with some force, to get them to activate.
Afterwards I only had to place the rod on the trigger, for the trap to activate.

The traps are now set right behind me, in my office, and I'm awaiting the satisfying *SNAP* to go off any minute.
The mouse has been running right beside me, multiple times, but I feel with the help from this video, he'll be forced to stop taunting me very soon...

Will update in the comments!

I wrap the kill zone in barb wire so when they get hit it sticks them. I had too many escapees

I had a trap go missing…after a search of the roof space I found it in the eves…..it contained one rat leg.
Must have chewed it off to get out of the trap. Never found the three legged rat.

I've been using this method on the plastic bait cups as well. A bit more hasle, but what I do is drill a pilot hole and then screw down a small piece of rag into the cup and then saturate it. Same thing, they yank on it and it snaps em.

Oh WOW I’m going to try this! Awesome tips! Today I tied a peanut to the trigger with some thread and sat it on top of peanut butter. I don’t know if my idea works yet because I just set it today and it not nighttime yet. I think I’ll try your tips! Looks like it will work great! I know this rat has to be getting hungry because there has been no available food or water for several days now! I even noticed it ate its own droppings last night. There were two poops I couldn’t reach behind my couch. This morning they are gone! It’s going to have to give in soon & take the bait! Wish me luck lol 😂
