Corrections will go here, reply to this comment only if you think there's something I got wrong and I'll add it 🙇

-A with SnS is attacks with shield
-In the recent games, apparently there IS a true lock-on function, you have to change it in the options (I had no idea they added this, I barely played World compared to the other games)

Switch-Axe - it's an axe, and a sword
Me: Okay.
Charge-Blade - It's a sword, and an axe
Me: waitwaitwait, hold the phone

And for anyone concerned, Gunlance doesn't require you to carry ammo with you, you have infinite reloads.

(Ex)Hammer main here! The main differences between blue guard and yellow guard is that the blue is generally better for hit and run due to it having faster attacks and yellow is better for when the monster is KO'd, or paralyzed due to it having a long combo at full charge while moving forward. You can also swap from blue to yellow and get a full yellow charge, so I recommend using it for silkbind attacks.

A quick note to anyone interested in the light bowgun. The mine is NOT a trip mine. It goes off when attacked. This can be triggered by both monster attacks AND hunter attacks, meaning you should be shooting the mine anytime the monster is standing on it. You can also lodge the mine into a monsters body using a certain wire if skill, meaning any attack on the monster is likely to trigger the mine until it wears off.

I've heard X and A so much in this video they don't feel like words/letters anymore.

I know you only had a minute to go over these but uh quick reload on the gunlance is sorta important

This is single handedly the most useful video for beginners. No waffle, every piece of information is on point, and movesets are informed in a logical and coherent manner.

Also, thanks for treating us like intelligent people and not dumbing it down.

Thanks mate.

Charge blade is easier then it sounds, hit with sword until phials are red, charge, switch to axe form, use charges and switch to sword and repeat until monster dies

Literally every other weapon: Just utilize this one mechanic and strung together these 3 input combos

Charge blade: so you know those fighting game combo trials?

Well, im gonna say it like this, if you ever come across someone that's constantly flying through the air like a complete lunatic, with his pet butterfly behind him, there's a pretty good chance that's me

PSA: there is a camera setting that lets you lock onto the monsters! Change from target cam to focus cam, when you press R joystick your camera will follow the monster :) spread the word!

Generally speaking Charge Mode: Strength (blue) has slightly longer charge times, forces you to move a bit more, and a bit more power but also more commitment/endlag and generally speaking fewer combo opportunities. Performing a charge switch from Strength will automatically put you into LV3 Standard, which will be amazing for some silkbinds or quick LV3 charges.

The standard charge mode, on the other hand, has generally shorter charge times, a bit less damage and movement, but more combo opportunity - the spin attack ending with a golf swing, for example, if you get off the strongest swing, you can tap A to do a bonk that you can follow up into the Strength Charge LV3 without having to switch.

Here’s a protip from a Glaive main: get in the habit of using the ZR+A wirebug technique to jump in. It’s a lower trajectory than the ZR+X jump, and has to be done with the control stick held in the opposite direction you want to go, but it automatically recalls your Kinsect, and instantly refills its stamina.

*_For those looking at the Charge Blade, charging your sword also gives it the buff Mind's Eye, which disallows your sword from being repelled during the time it is charged. Same applies to Phial Discharge moves (A button while in axe mode). If you have red shield and are about to unleash Phial Discharge 3, pressing back and X at the shield air pressure puff will ensure you only release the regular version and not the Super Amped version._*

*_Also also, doing any attack in SnS mode can be followed up with shield bash, which is X+A after any attack. Doing X+A again after shield bash will lead you into (Super, if red shield) Amped Discharge. You can do the whole move with this, or press your guard button to charge your shield._*

_trust me, this weapon comes with a pretty thicc user manual lmao_

My advise to all the new people out there when try out new weapon: focus on 1 thing at a time. Go to hunter’s notes and all the move set are there, but dont do all of them. Learn 1 combo and go hunt until you become good at it, then learn a new combo/move of the weapon and repeat the process.

How to use every weapon:
Step 1 - Pick hammer
Step 2 - That's it

EDIT: I'd like to make an addition of a third step: Uppercut all head hogging longsword mains into the sun. Specifically the head hoggers, tail cutters are to be respected.
