This is the first video, which shows some basics of the ice hockey stop with some good hockey stop tips. Your front foot uses the inside edge, your back foot is using the outside edge.

Most of the weight is on your front foot, that will do most of the stopping, you can dig in with your back foot as well, but that is also for balance

@canaan1967 well it depends on how good you are at stopping. When I stop I lift most of the weight off of both skates and turn them both at the same time, then stop.
Players who are just learning will take weight off of one foot, turn the other and then stop. So what I mean is taking weight off of the skate, that way you don't do a 360

I like how you explained the stop by just moving the skates. When you stop, the front foot is on the inside edge, but what's the back foot supposed to be doing?

i heard if you do a front foot snow plow then do a T stop it works

I'm a 19 year old Canadian girl. I can do this on my skis no problem, but put me on the ice, and I'll look like I know what I'm doing until someone wants to stop. Currently I do little circles until I slow down... or just ram into a sideboard haha.
