75' LG TV has HDMI control issues (with Yamaha Receiver) - RANT & FIX

Last fall I purchased a 75" LG TV - Model 75NANO91ANA
The TV would not allow the HDMI to handshake properly with my Yamaha RX-A1070 Receiver. LG could not have cared less

I bought a 75 Nano as well. I've not messed with my setup in a while now. I gave up. I remember getting mad at the set-up before and my eARC would cause zero sound from the speakers. I followed the instructions on the TV and the Yamaha with no success and now I have the optical line providing my sound. I really hope this video helps me get the eARC issues fixed! From what I've read the sound is better than what the optical line can provide. Thanks for the video!

Hello, Elliot...I appreciate your video and will attempt to alleviate the problem that seems to be a function of the HDMI signals from peripherals through receiver and into TV. Clarification...trying to better understand how you ultimately connected your Yamaha and LG together. Sounded like you had previously had ARC (video out) from receiver to TV, and the independent peripherals plugged into receiver's HDMI input ports...then you took the ARC (video out) and instead used the regular HDMI out (2) to the TV...right?

I have an LG 86" NANO with very similar HDMI switching issues with my Yamaha tsr700 receiver . Thanks for posting this video. I'm going to try to set up the LG as a dumb TV as you've mentioned. I just want a TV monitor without all the other smart features.

Thanks for the video. I bought a 75" LG "nanovision" tv and have been having major problems hooking up my Yamaha RX-V477 to it. I'll follow your lead and hope I get some results and just deal with a dumb tv. I didn't want a "smart" tv in particular anyhow but all new tvs are smart tvs these days I found out.

I have a l g c 2 65 inch oled tv. And a Yamaha rx- v 677 AVR ITS BEEN OK FOR TWELVE MONTHS NOT IM HAVING NO SOUND FROM MY DEVICES THROUGH ARC. ANY IDEAS?

My new (and expensive) 65" LG OLED and Yamaha V-685 (which I've had connected to countless TVs) doesn't seem to work. When I use the different surround sound programs on the receiver, it goes to "STRAIGHT" sound.

I have a 65 oled from LG and it doesn't allow my avr to control inputs. I want the TV to just be a monitor and use the avr for input switching, but the TV will randomly decide which of the connected devices it wants to power on with cec. Pretty annoying since my old TV worked just fine
