Palestinians Fear Netanyahu's Annexation Plan

Israeli settlers in the West Bank are celebrating the announcement by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to annex one-third of the Palestinian territory in the West Bank if he is re-elected. Netanyahu wants to declare sovereignty over the Jordan River Valley and Israeli settlements in the West Bank. His plan has sparked condemnation by the Palestinians and has been declared illegal by the international community. VOA's Zlatica Hoke reports.

In 2005 Israel pulled its army and residents out of Gaza. The Palestinians then voted Hamas into power and they proceeded to fire over 20, 000 rockets and mortars at Israeli civilians since that time and still do. It's from that situation that is has become obvious to Israelis that they need to have complete control over the Jordan valley to stop future Palestinian extremists using it to secure more destructive weapons.
