Netanyahu approves fast-tracking of bill to annex Jordan Valley

Israel's prime minister has approved the fast-tracking of a proposed law to annex the Jordan Valley, territory it already occupies.

The decision comes after the US announced it no longer viewed Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank as illegal.

Palestinians condemned the change in US policy while the UN and many individual governments have confirmed that they continue to consider settlements illegal and an obstacle to peace.

By definition any leader who doesn't want to be investigated should be looked at with great suspicion. If there are any credible reasons to do an investigation there should be no doubt to do the investigation. Any democratic leader should be willing and cooperative in ruling out any reasonable doubts about possible wrongdoings. Any person who is innocent, and this applies most certainly to people at high ranked positions, has no valid reason at all to fear facing justice. Unless of course they know that they did something wrong and illegal. Elected officials should be held accountable at ALL times and the people have the right to know the truth, even if it is a painful truth. Once our nations, and by that I mean the people from those nations, stop with holding elected officials accountable it will mean the immediate end of our democracy and our freedom.
