I love how they hyped up all the previous Gear 5 episodes, but kept very quiet about the best one. This was totally unexpected and amazing.

it feels surreal watching Luffy being able to keep up with Kaido....dude had been one of the emperors for years, so long that he helped define an era in piracy where those four ruled over the New World. We heard about him so many hundreds of chapters ago and then saw how immense his strength was against g4.

Luffy meanwhile started his journey only a couple years ago as a nobody in the weakest sea. Its so great to watch how far he's come.

Absolutely blown away by the animation in this battle. The detail, camera movement and motion is incredible. 0:53 the spirals in his eyes are 3-dimensional and cast shadows.. whilst he is rotating with the lighting and shadows revolving around his body 💫

This episode was animated so well! And yet people still complain. Ignoring that though the scene where kaido is coming towards luffy and it zooms into luffys eye showing the silhouette of a dragon is by far my favorite part of this entire episode and quite literally one of my favorite animated parts.

what's great is how this episode made Kaido almost look like the protagonist, trying to find a way to fight against this crazy power. Usually you dont see the VILLAIN dodging the protag's multiple energy attacks to close the distance

Kaido is truly the strongest because of his usage of Haki. It's terrifying. Though, he needs the hybrid form to keep up with Luffy I'm sure or he wouldn't be fast enough. Kaido mentioned that because of Roger, and it makes you wonder just how fast and formidable was Roger? If Luffy masters this power (Kaido already noticed Luffy is using his multiple hakis while fighting) than Luffy can't be stopped by anything but a Yonko+ level. You can tell just by watching the fight that Luffy is just being Luffy, experimenting with his power and trying things combined with his love of fighting to combat Kaido. In terms of battle experience Kaido just KNOWS what to do and how to adapt (as we are seeing) vs. Luffy who is still a new gen and playing with yet another new power to figure out how to beat Kaido. This is incredible, honestly.

I like this. So often in this type of anime, the mc gets his new powerup or whatever and proceeds to roflstomp the bad guy. Even in One Piece you see it like when luffy first went gear 4 and proceeded to BULLY doflamingo from one side of dressrosa to the other. Honestly, his time limit is all that made the battle remotely tense once he went bounce man on him. But here? Luffy went literal god mode, made the world his personal cartoon play pen, and kaido is still slapping the taste out of luffys mouth. Yeah dude is a lot stronger now and is counter slapping plenty, but this basically made for an even fight at this point.

The fact that kaido had time to dodge the lightning, then smack luffy multiple times before the rest of the lightning strikes even reached ground is insane. Goes to show he really was letting everyone get free hits on him the whole time

Bruh Kaido been fighting nonstop vs different opponents, keeping up with g5 Luffy, And using his flame clouds to fly Onigashima the whole time fighting. 😂 he’s a fkn Monster!!
