Also check for phasing issues by switching back and forth between mono and stereo... if the audio level drops in mono, you have phasing issues. Use a stereo tool to fix it (invert one channel for example)
Phasing issues are super common, even in pro audio tools like soft synths, Kontakt libs and other VTS and sample libs.
Always do a quick stereo to mono switch to test for phasing or overhyped widening, which will cause levels to drop when in mono.
Great tips :)

Really inspiring. I made use of the "put one effect on the left and another on the right" - stereo width thing you 've shown.

Great tips as always 👍I didn’t knew that you also can use saturation, or just anything, what makes the sound slightly different for left and right to create width.
I thought you only trick your brain by delaying L and R a tiny bit with this haas technique.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge 🙌

THanks for the great video Will - On the Haas effect: Actually I do find that just shifting one channel a bit in terms of time and panning wide left and right has still a better effect than any plugin like Ozone...

Will, when you said "some soft synths like sylenth1 have the capability built into them" around 5:30, what is the feature/switch called? Or are you referring to adding more voices?

Beware of using haas effect on dry samples such as drums because it's really causing phase issues in mono and can be deceiving when the the samples are on full left and right. Better use just 50% left and right so that phasy sound could be heard on both stereo and mono. Take note that this is just my opinion about issues with haas effect.

But I think haas effect can still be good for synths with phase randomizations in their oscillators or has some modulations and effects that affects the sound randomly, as the phases of each frequencies from the synth sound is randomizly positioned at nature.

Still struggling to find the right words for these, so I wish you would understand what I really mean.^_^

Could you do a video on maybe the best must have free plugins to get to improve your tracks? Or maybe something along those lines? Would be nice to see what you can think of as I trust your judgment more than other yt videos, been liking the videos so far especially someone like me who is at a beginner level, keep it up 👍

First question: StudioOne Artist, the volume of an acoustic guitar recording through microphone is very low (compared to previously recorded tracks of acoustic guitars with pickups), the knob on interface is at the maximum, tracks out level -12db, the amplitude of the signal wave is low to normal, still the sound is hardly hearable even when i pop up the buss' level to +4db. Why? What can i do?

Second question: StudioOneArtist does not support the outside VTS plugings, is there any pluggin in StudioOne Artist that can give an effect of Ozone Imager2 (widening the sound, phase)?

Awesome, as always. This is more creative but what do you think about widening VSTs like Ozone Imager, Infected Mushroom Wider, etc.?

Could you do a video on how to make your tracks sound professional and polished? I always struggle with that as all my tracks sound very beginner-level, unmixed and not worthy of putting it out there 🥲
