Erica - I know what you mean by too many avenues to learn from then getting overwhelmed. I finally got a cardboard box, put all my learning stuff in there, labeled it Español, and pick from there what interests me that day ( children’s books, song lyrics, etc ) plus listen to various on line lessons, and keep track of which videos or podcasts I listened to. Maybe one day I want to study grammar, maybe the next day do some Duolingo. Maybe the next day writing Spanish !

I’ve been dabbling for years and never committed to a real plan. Perfectly timed video for me. Thank you!

I agree reading out loud is definitely an important habit to start early. My Spanish is not so great, however people think it is better than it is because I really focus on pronunciation. 👍🏾

ok I had 3 years of Spanish in school and I barely learned anything. The way you have recommended learning is so much better. As a beginner I have started watching my favorite tv shows in Spanish to remind myself of words and phrases that I have forgotten. I also started reading short stories that I find online outload. I think one of the scariest things for most people trying to learn a language is trying to speak to someone else outload and being wrong and I find that I have more confidence because of reading outload. Hearing myself say the words even before I know what all mean is super beneficial.

If I watched this video one year ago, when I started to learn Spanish and followed your golden tips, I'm sure I'd be a much better Spanish speaker today. My focus was all about writing and grammar, not listening and speaking :/
I won't forget your advices and tips, hope I can level up my Spanish (and English, as well) and speak it with no self awareness, shyness or being afraid of mistakes. Thanks a lot for this 10 amazing minutes. Good energies and success for you, from Brazil 💕🇧🇷

If I haven't said this before, I love your backdrop. It's unique. But it's only made better by the content!

Thank you! I keep forgetting about actually sitting down and writing down what I can in Swahili...Writing about my day is a great idea! I used to do that when I was learning Spanish...it was really fun! You're right, these things work for any language one may be learning... Thanks again!

Thank you for talking me into Rocket Spanish. It has helped with my overwhelm of resources that were keeping me from getting organized and started. It's Really good! And my 6yo LOVES practicing the record and listen to feature. That 100% makes her feel good, lol. Although you have to really butcher the word or phrase to get anything but 100%. I want to read more...but ....but....I know I sound terrible and I'm doing it wrong and it's super frustrating. I can repeat what I hear like in Rocket Spanish, but when I tried to just read children's books it was a big fail.

One of my plans when learning Brazilian Portuguese & Swahili is, don't learn grammar in the beginning stages of foreign languages. I wish I adopted that strategy when I first started learning Swahili. Now I Know. When you first start to learn foreign languages, you are going to be super confused. So lighten the load for yourself.

Hi Erica.
As a beginner in learning Spanish as a second language, can you please tell me as a female...do you always use the femine form of the language when speaking to both men and women or is the female form only used when speaking female to female? I'm sure this sounds stupid and is obvious to most, but is a little confusing for me. Thank you for all of your helpful guidance.

I don’t have a lot of natives to speak with in my area. And I feel like I can pronounce and have a good amount of vocabulary, however I’m still working on putting sentences In my own words through speaking to myself and writing. But how do I get myself to the point of speaking with someone else?
