Polystyrene monomer...sometimes called ‘builders bog’ in Oz. Better than water based filler, as it does not lift when wetted with a water based primer, if painting!

Good job, but polyester isn't pratic and fast, it is quickly drying.

Anybody can patch a hole...the idea is to patch the hole and then stain it and see if the patched area can take the stain...

When do you say that it's past the point of repair? I've got a antique radio without the radio and the hinges just fell out and took a big chunk of wood with it! With old furniture like this it looks like it's cherry wood and fruit wood combined
