The A-10 wasn’t suggested to be retired because it couldn’t kill tanks, it was supposed to be retired because it couldn’t fight on a modern battlefield with anti air capability

Reminds me of an old Volvo dump truck I used to drive. Was uglier than shit but was the only tank in the fleet that would wake up every morning without a hiccup & take a beating every day without question.

I used to live near Annapolis. Born on an Army base in the middle of Texas. Fort Hood. I grew up loving navy, because I lived right up the Severn river from Annapolis. But I appreciate ALL the service personnel everywhere in the United States ever. Thank you for your service.

The A-10 & B-52 are two of the best & longest living planes produced, true icons. The A-10 is an amazing creation I've admired since it's birth & it never disappoints. A true lifesaver.

The reason many want to retire the A-10 is not because of a lack of killing capabilities. It is due to the amount of anti-air capabilities that have been put out over the years. In a conventional war any potential enemies would not only have traditional anti-air missles and air to air capabilities, but the manpads surface to air missles will make it extremely hard to keep these planes protected. I hope they keep it, but it isn't because of the lack of an offense.

Why would you retire the most cost-effective weapon ever built of that caliber. Pilots love them, troops love them, and enemies refer to them as the Cross of Death. Whoever wants to retire this amazing weapon needs to pull their head out of their ass.
