3 years now with HIVES my allergist didn't help me half a dozen different medications the next thing is a shot once a month no thank you. have chronic hives, I have had them fore nearly 10 years and am pretty sure I know the cause, ywt am in a quandary as to how to change anything to relieve the condition. I was a heroin addict for nearly 14 years on and off.I was a fledgling professional musician anx unfortunately the two subcultures intwrmingled at the time.Eventually i graduated to intravenous use androughly 35 to 50 " bags " a day. Or 3 to 5 grams...I lived exqctly at the center point between NYC and Philadelphia, so it was usually poweder form.While I had kicked cold turkey in the past and though it was horrible was temporarily successful, I knew my habit had grown to a point where that was inconceivable to me, so I went on methadone maitnence.The good news is it allowed me to stabalize my life, to the point where I am now the forman of a hugw grocery warehouse thst supplies several grocery chains in my area. I started getting hives about 3 to 4 weeks adtef starting methadone, though it took me a while to make the times they were horrible, usally starting at the toes and feet and progressing to my torso, being the most acute and itchy at the back of my shoulders and back....I scaled back from a high of 130mil a day to 58 mil. . today, yet while some times I have a good week where they are minimal and pretty wasy to tolerate, at other times they drive me crazy.While the easy answer is to get offerhDone, I have been on it for 9 years and Ive tried to obstain for 2 or 4 days in a row to see what the withdrawal is like, its not as intense as heroin, but it is excruciatingly long, most say several months to a year with the length of time I have been on methadone.If It was an option I would suck it up, hit the bed and try to last the month or so that it is most acute, however my job is quite physical still even at the foreman level I am lifting sorting and generally doing a very physical job and there is no WAY i could maintain my job sanity and sobriety going through such an ordeal...and there really are no alternative meda that are similar enough that I know of to switch to that 8 am not allergic to. I dont know what aspect of methadone is causing the reaction, I wasnt allergic to any other opiates that I know of, so i dont know if its the food coloring they use, the method they use to sweeten the merhadone, I dont know. I havent come out and told a Dr.because I dont want to be forced into something i cant handle, while I have really rebuilt my life, family and lively hood, I realize with this new fentnyal epidemic, one slip up and I would be dead, and would most assuredly be long gone if not for methadone.I use to take benedryl but it does almost nothing to stop thw hives from appearing and ittching, It seems the best treatment i have discovwred is 50mil benedryl twice a day and 1 or 2 claratin a day, tho i dont kno the milagrams right now, I haven't tried zyrtech, do u think it would, be more effective?

I found out I was allergic to dust not too long ago, woke up a few days and then started to break out in hives, the next day I woke up and about 1 hour later my legs started to break out in hives which made me worry and get stress-hives

I am an epileptic and they started me on Dilantin and believe it or not I did not=ot have a reaction until about a week later (docs were VERY shocked). Was getting ready for work and suddenly could NOT stop scratching - was AWFUL. I was in the Australian Navy and I rang the Navy hospital - asked me if I was having trouble breathing - I said no I just could NOT STOP scratching I was red as a beetroot - so they sent a taxi for me. Got there and the Navy Docs ‘ you having a nasty reaction but to what?” Finally worked out it was the Dilantin but they did say to me that a week later was extremely rare. when they injected me with a pretty big dose of anti histamines went to sleep and woke up fine
