Why is it called "implicit" differentiation? It seems to me that "incomplete" differentiation might be a better term. Look at the result. Normally when you differentiate Y with respect to x you wind up with a statement completely in terms of x and constants but here you wind up with an answer in terms of y -- hardly a complete differentiation. YOU STILL HAVEN'T STATED WHAT THE DERIVATIVE OF Y WITH RESPECT TO X IS.
