What Distance Should My Grow Lights be Above My Seeds Starts? & How Long Do I Leave the Lights On?

I provide clear examples of light distance, for *white LED shop lights*, above seed starts. I also show you what healthy stocky plants and leggy plants look like. Plants need more light at germination and the first 2-3 week period of growth.

One note I'd like to add is that some seeds prefer a rather cool germinate temperature, perhaps even into the 50° - 60° Fahrenheit range. When germinating seeds with such requirements, I place a very, very gentle fan to blow across the 1 - 3" gap between lights and sown seed starter trays. Not only does the gentle airflow keep the trays cool, despite the close proximity of the lights, but it also will make the new seedlings "dance" and wiggle about, which aids in even stronger, stouter stems at seedling stage.

As a European, I watch so many of your videos. I can't even calculate garden things anymore using Centimeters and meters. Everything I can think of is inches and feet and it's so much easier for me. Same with Celcius and Fahrenheit, completely switched it.
